I've read on quite a few threads around here that some of you take papaya enzyme tablets for your heartburn/reflux. I'm dying here and the prescript I'm taking for it isn't cutting it (Prevacid). I don't want to take Tums anymore (I've also read on here about too many Tums causing calcifications on the placenta, don't want that to happen!).

My question is...how much do I take? How often do I take them? I'm reading online a little and it's saying they're chewable and to take them after meals?

Any info you all could pass along my way would be SO helpful and so much appreciated.

Take as many or as few as you need. You can't OD on them! I would try one or two, and wait a few minutes. If the HB subsided, that was it. I kept a bottle next to my bed so when I woke up in pain in the middle of the night, I was covered.

I think they do help too. Just take them when you feel the heartburn coming on. I usually only take them once or twice a day (three at a time) since my heartburn is only occasional, but I wouldn't worry too much about taking more. They are pretty benign.
