HI

I wanted to know all about the IUD pargard. I read that for nursing mothers there is a risk of expulsion (I guess the uterus contracts itself while bf).

What are the pro's and con's of having this iud and is the bleeding and cramping really unbearable even if you have a normal 6 day cycle with mild cramping?

Can your dh feel the strings and how long should it be? Is it flexible?

Tell me all about it

I don't have the paragard. I have mirena, so I think I could answer a few of your questions.

I BF and mine didn't expell. Although I didn't get it inserted until 6 mo pp. I really feel that uterine cramping is minimal after 6 wks pp. So I really don't think it would be a big risk. Also, should it be expelled, it can be replaced (for free).

As I have mirena and not paragard, I won't answer your pro's/con's/af q.

My DH doesn't feel the strings. As for how long they are, I seriously don't know. My OB said she'd trim them as short as I needed util DH couldn't feel them anymore. I never had to have them trimmed again. My OB said the strings often curl around the cervix and may be hard to feel (I guess that's both good and bad). The strings are pretty flexible. Kind of felt like fishing line to me. Hope that answers some of your questions.
