Hello, ladies--

DH's work schedule is really ramping up (like 16-18 hour days) and he'll be going out of town for a month soon. Since I don't have any trustworthy family nearby who can help out, I'm thinking about getting a part-time baby nanny or sitter during the week.

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to start looking? I asked a really sweet nanny in my neighborhood if she or any of her nanny friends needed extra hours but so far, no dice. As a SAHM I see a LOT of nannies who strike me as really awful with children.
Naturally I'm pretty hesitant to try to find someone online or go through a nanny service...

If you have a part-time nanny or sitter, how did you find them? How much do you pay them hourly? Any suggestions would be hugely helpful. Thanks in advance!
