I have Butterick pattern 5220, and it includes a diaper cover. You can sort of see it in the link below, but the picture is kinda crappy. It's very basic; two layers, edged with bias tape, with elastic in the legs and back of the waist, and velcro tabs. I'm thinking I'll make them out of wool and/or fleece. But I confess that I have no idea about the physics of effective diapering, and I'm wondering if it's just meant to be cosmetic. Has anyone used this pattern? Or could anyone speculate on whether it would work or not? I'd be putting them over prefolds I guess (1 or 2 layers? What's the standard?)
