I don't know if anyone is familiar with the Nashua Surplice Lace top pattern, but I have been working on it for a week and I am getting frustrated.
It is a lovely pattern, fun to work, easy...*but*, I can't get past the little purl bumps in the left hand side of each pattern section...See here and here to get an idea of it.

So, anyone know hoe to work a decrease without getting the pearl bump? The pattern calls for SSk, I am assuming because it needs to angle toward the adjacent K2T. Is there another way to make a right-facing decrease??

Help!

Thanks, mamas....

I'm confused - the SSK is a left facing decrease. Do you want other options for left facing decreases?
as a partner to K2tog, you could K2togtbl (knit 2 together through the back loop) and just right the twisted stitch on the next row. Or, here's a site with a ton of info on decreases - you could pick whichever one you think will look best:

by the way, I've been eyeing that pattern for a while now - post a pic of yours when you're done!

I have been drooling over that top since I first saw it. I even showed it to dh and he said "Wow, that would look really good on you." (This man has never showed any enthusiasm about anything I've knitted other than the requisite "It looks great" when I show him a FO). I'm hoping that and the list of websites that sell the pattern book and the yarn I gave him will give him a hint of what I might like for my birthday next week . . .

I'd love to see some photos when you're finished!

I figured out my problem...and I am not even sure how the pattern turned out to look *as good* as it has since discovering my error!
Turns out, I have been forgetting to do stockinette on the first and last 6 stitches of *every* row...yep, that's right, I am actually 12 whole stitches off!

So, after a few minutes of staring at all of my work, I sat in the quiet and frogged it all...

BUT, I will get right back on it. I am determined to make this sweater!!
