I am currently doing the Turkey hat for DD1's dress up box. I've run into a possible pattern error though.

I'm to the decreases. As written when I get to the end (the last 8 stitches) I have 3 stitches left when it's time to decrease (so I knit my 5 and then have 3). I thought it was just me miscounting but when I did the next decrease round when I got to the last 7 same issue. I knit my 4 and then had 3 left over. So I thought maybe she had her math off. I frogged back three rounds and am back to my first decrease round. I just counted my stitches and everything is right. So I thought maybe I needed to knit 6, k2tog. If I do that though I end on a knit 6 so I have a section of 12 stitches with no decreases (the first 6 and the last 6).

What should I do? I want to get this finished already. It seems to have taken me forever to get just the amount I have done finished.

you should have casted on 77 i think, instead of 78. The decreases are in sets of 7 (knit 5+ 2 from knit 2 tog = 7) Of course, if you did that then the 1 x 1 wouldn't work right, you'd wind up with 2 knits together (the first and last stitch)

Since you've already knitted the body of the hat, I'd probably fudge it by ripping back to just before the first decrease row, and work the last decrease as a knit 2 together, which will get you to the correct stitch count

That's what I thought. I'm glad I didn't get very far in the decreases!
