my sweet dh and i are flying my mil up here to stay with the kids (15, 9 and 5) for a couple nights while we spend a couple nights downtown for our anniversary (in our 16 years (in august) together-we have spent a big 1 night alone <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngtongue.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Stick Out Tongue"> so this is a pretty big deal for us). (usually, we are mr. and mrs. frugal<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin"> but are going out of our comfort zone for this one!) we will be taking the max and have been looking at the heathman, hotel monaco, etc. (a less expensive place would be fine too-our main things are downtown, and being alone<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/Sheepish.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Sheepish"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"> but wondering if anyone else out there has a recommendation for us. my brother and his wife stayed at the jupiter but weren't crazy about it...<br>
and yes, i am up at 3 am because it is so hard for me to sleep when he is out of town, ugh! (i even took valerian!)<br>
thanks for any and all replies!

Hey mama,<br>
My dh used to work downtown at <a href="http://www.govhotel.com/" target="_blank">The Governor</a>. We stayed there and I really enjoyed it (plus it was free <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="thumbs up">) He left a few months ago and the GM as well so I'm not sure how the place is ran now..but when they were both there it was doing great. You can walk to great places and hop on the MAX easily too. Yummy food stand outside during the week across the street and good food all around in restaurants (you can hop on MAX and go to the market on the weekends easily too).<br><br>
HTH and Happy Anniversary!! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/joy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="joy">:

The Hilton! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin"><br><br>
If you wanted to stay outside of downtown, I'd recommend the Red Lion in Jantzen Beach. We got a room on the corner overlooking the Columbia and I-5 bridge, it was gorgeous to see at night!! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">
