My 18 month old DD went pee pee in the potty yesterday!! Hurray! But now what?<br>
She has been sitting on her potty when I sit on mine since about 12 months old. Lately I have been showing her when I go pee I say look mama is going pee pee so that she can see that we aren’t just sitting on a fun potty chair. She had her dp off and she was running around and then she squatted and said pee pee. So I said I have to go pee pee lets go to the potty and to my amazement she went pee pee. Besides sitting on her potty chair we have been talking and reading about the potty. The last week or so we have been dumping her poo poo in the potty and saying the poo poo goes in the potty. Then she started saying poo poo when she went poo. Today she went poo poo in the living room after we sat on the potty. She ran over a grabbed my hand and said “poo poo” and took me to her poo. I cleaned it up and said yes good that’s poo poo which goes in the potty. I am honestly thrilled she understands when she has to go and can use words to tell me. I have kept it really causal and I am just wondering if I should just keep going along the way we are or what?

What you are doing sounds great. I would ask her throughout the day if she has to go too. Like 1/2 hour after a big drink and again at 1 hour after. Before we go out for a walk/to the store. I did this with my ds consistantly for a few weeks and he is pooty trained at 21 months(occasional accidents happen). If ds has an accident I don't make a big deal about it. I just take him to the potty and see if he will go even one drip then we cheer loud with clapping and "good boy"s. My ds also decided he hates to wear diapers so that helped a lot. Good luck!
