I'm wanting to know a bit more about when you think it's appropriate to talk to your child about periods.

My parents first talked to me about periods when I was 10 or 11.

Toddlers like to come into the bathroom with mom--that is a good time to start. Waiting until 10 or 11 is way to late as many girls start early or have friends who have--and boys need to know about periods too!

I think you need to talk to your child about menstruation as early as possible, because it's a very important moment. My sister told her daughter about her period at age 10, which is a great age. Since our mother never told us about it, when my sister got her period, she was very scared and didn't know what to do. So my sister prepared her daughter well for this moment. She even found one website, yonifeel.com, where she read what to do if her period is painful or starts late. And as far as I'm concerned, it's the right thing to do and every mother should be conscientious.
