I have been hearing that this one is considered the most dangerous of all vaccines, does anyone know about this? Any good online literature that I could read regarding this? Im not willing to buy into anything until I read some concrete evidence.

Even the State of Arkansas knows pertussis-containing vaccines are dangerous. Since the CDC won't protect our children, Arkansas was forced to enact their own "pertussis vaccine exemption" in order to protect the children of Arkansas:<br><br><br>
ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:<br><br>
SECTION 1. Arkansas Code Section 6-18-702(d), requiring immunization of children, is amended to read as follows:<br><br><b><i>(3) (5) Furthermore, the provisions of this section requiring pertussis vaccination shall not apply to any child with a sibling, either whole blood or half blood, who has had a serious adverse reaction to the pertussis antigen, which reaction resulted in a total permanent disability.</i></b>

This is sort of on-topic...<br><br>
But does anybody know anything about the research that determined that mixing bacterial toxins with formaldehyde "inactivates" them and somehow makes them safe?

"Crying Syndrome" and "Screaming Syndrome" (aka episodes of excessive/prolonged crying) is associated with pertussis-containing vaccines:<br><br>
Thousands of VAERS reports: <a href="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/showthread.php?t=472605" target="_blank">http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=472605</a><br><br>
Many describe it as an encephalitic cry.

How many times does a persussis vaccine need to be administered in order for a patient to be considered "immune" to it?<br>
I am not talking about the Dtap. I am talking about the Pertussis vaccine by itself.

There *is* no pertussis vaccine by itself. Only DTaP, or the new TdaP, which is for adults and teens.

Are you sure? I thought that you could request to have a vaccine like pertussis by itself without the others in the booster but you have to ask the doctor ahead of time so they can order it.

Positive.<br><br>
You can get the M-M-and R separately, and the others by themselves, but Pertussis only comes with the D and the T. Sorry. However, you CAN get JUST the D and the T without the P. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink">

No, you can't get pertussis on its own. You can get tetanus alone or diphtheria/tetanus without pertussis, but no pertussis only vaccine is available in the US. You can also split up the MMR into three separate shots.<br><br>
As far as immunity is concerned, they really don't seem to have any clue on this one. They used to think 3 was enough. Then they said 5 made about 85% or more immune. Now research shows 5 shots might make 70% or so immune. But that's probably not true, either, and if it is, the immunity will wear off after a couple years or so. Even natural infection doesn't make you immune to pertussis forever, so the shot definitely can't.

I am in the process of writing a paper about vaccinations and I am finding that many children get pertussis even if they were "fully" vaccinated for it, as well as other diseases vaccinated for. There is lack of evidence that vaccinations are even effective. What do you all think about this?

No doubt in my mind that vaccines aren't effective...or at least effective enough to be worth the risk.<br><br>
Why do you think they keep adding more and more boosters to the roster? Just look at the cp vax...now they are adding more boosters and recommending a shingles one too....it never ends...why is that? $$$$ and lack of efficacy.<br><br>

I read a study linked here (lost the link since then) which showed that infants who received DTaP had decreased respiration after the fact.

Well if you want to make the case that vaccines aren't all they're cracked up to be, pertussis is your VPD.<br>
The science backing pertussis vaccination has been rewritten so many times it's unreal.
