Dang-- and I was just about to brag on here about how much I loved our new system. Waaaaaaaa!

So, I was late to full-time cd'ing. Didn't start until 2 months ago when 22 was 19 months (prior to that, I was doing a combo of AIO's and 7th Generation disposables).

ANYHOW, I bought a bunch of Kissaluvs contours and bummi covers for daytime. LOVE that. We still use the 10 AIO Kushies I bought long time ago (although they leak BADLY). But at night I was using IPFs with an Aristocat cover. LOVE the wool cover! But 21 month dd does NOT have the patience for PF's. She HATES when I put her in it and cries when I change her in the middle of the night PLUS-- the premium size I bought BARELY fits. The snappi pops off often in the middle of the night. Rrrrrrr!

SO-- now I'm thinking we should switch to fitteds for nights. I guess I can save the IPFs for baby #2, right? ANY RECOMMENDATIONS?????? I had bought one Kissaluv fitted to try. It's too bulky for daywear IMO (contours do us better) -- but it's nice at night. Should I order more of those? Any other fitteds you all recommend -- SPECIFICALLY for night? In other words, they don't have to be pretty or trim. Just comfy and absorbant. AND 100% natural fiber on the bottom (Kissaloves have some poly, but supposedly only on the base).

THANKS FOR ANY IDEAS YOU CAN SEND MY WAY!

The 100% natural cuts out having a fleece lining, which is what I love so much in the kid's night diapers. My 9mo old is making PFs hard right now b/c I have to pin them (he crawls and moves to a snappi doesn't stay in place). If he's in a chilled mood I put PFs on; otherwise I grab fitteds

Depending on your budget:
Firefly sleeptight
Muttaqin hemp (or 100% cotton sherpa, if she has it)... I actually like sherpa in many ways b/c its so nice and soft until they pee and even after doesn't sit flat against the baby like hemp does
Sugarpeas
Heck, most WAHMs will make a plain 'ole hemp or cotton diaper I think. (or you can find them on the TP )

Good luck

I agree- I struggled with prefolds when my baby became a toddler. He started fighting me at every diaper change and I ended up going to almost all fitteds (with prefolds as backups).

I say if the Kissaluv contours are working for you- stick with them! I love them for trimmness...they just are too small for my toddler now. (I am still trying to get Dianna to make some large contours....).

I would hang onto the IPF's that you have. You might find they work later or you can use them for something else.

Sugar Plum Baby makes great OC fitteds. I have never used them overnight though, we use Fuzzi Bunz and have never had a leak.

I'm with you on the PFs though, trying to use them on my 21 month old dd was a joke. They do make nice inserts for pockets though if you ever go that route.

HI! We have been using prefolds since day one. For a while, and sometimes still, diaper changes are bad. But, they have gotten so much better! I did not have the $ to go over to fitteds when things were hectic. Now, he usually accepts the diaper change. If he is not ready, I will wait-talk to him about doing it in a minute, give him a distraction(remote control, phone, wet wash cloth, whatever works!), and go at it! It has calmed down now, but there was a time when it was EVERY single diaper change! I DO think things will calm down after a while, but if you have the $ to go over to another system and cannot bear waiting, which is understandable, LOL, then go for it. Also, yes, I cannot imagine a premium fitting well if you are pinning or snappi-ing! We are in TOddlers.

Hi Marni!

I'm not understanding why you're having to change in the middle of the night? Is it because the PF's are coming undone or because they're sopping wet? Either way you probably need to move up a size to toddler for more absorbancy and a better fit ... you might even consider getting some toddler pre-fitteds from www.growmearainbow.com as your babe is probably used to something a little trimmer between her legs ... and you might want to get yourself some doublers for use overnight which will hopefully allow you both to sleep peacefully though the night without interuption.

I don't recommend the kissaluvs for overnight use as they are definately not absorbant enough ...but if you pair them with a good doubler you'll be fine.

If you are into getting fitteds for overnight my favorites for dd are first class baby size 2's (paired oddly enough with a small stacinator stretch wool cover ...my dd is NOT small LOL) ... I'm sure you can order them without microfleece inside (though it's an excellent moisture barrier ....it's just 100% polyester) ...the trick is actually getting in on the ordering as they are hard to come by these days.

I have a tall, thin toddler and all we use now for fitteds are SOS and Fireflys. The great thing about SOS is they are onesize diapers, so you can use them on your next babe as well.

If you don't want to have to buy all new fitteds, you could probably size up to toddler CPFs. I've never really liked using prefolds on my squirmy toddler, they just don't stay put with a snappi and he wont lay still long enough to pin.

I got a great deal on a bunch of assorted WAHM dipes on the TP several months ago, and among the bunch was a Poochies. It's become my favorite nighttime dipe! It's neither glamorous nor trim, but it's absorbent, especially with the addition of a extra doubler under the snap-in doubler. Ours does have fleece on the snap-in doubler, but I'm sure you could order one without. During the day, we use Kissaluvs with doublers, but they're nowhere near absorbent enough to see us through a night! Our other nighttime set-ups involve prefolds (CPF's or hemp) and various doublers, but the fitted is just so much easier--it gets used immediately after washing, every time. I keep dreaming of buying a few more for easier evenings....

Oh, and we often, especially at bedtime, have frequent bouts of "you're torturing me by diapering me" screams! Even with various attempts at distraction, delay, etc. : There are just so many things a toddler needs to get into; I suppose diapering does not figure into THEIR plans for a fun day/night!

I second the vote for Poochies ... I forgot to say that while we use SOS or fireflys during the day, Poochies is by far my fave nighttime diaper. Not trim or fancy, but you will not find anything more absorbant!

We are in the same boat!! the amount of urine that comes out of that little guy (22mos) is amazing!!! i'm always hesitant to try something new because my sleep is so precious. that said we have had great results with fuzzi bunz. they are so trim and they don't leak. we use two hemp inserts for nighttime and they work great. the nice thing is that i can use prefolds or whatever random fitteds i have lying around and then save the fuzzi bunz for night time (that way you don't have to own 20 FBs - only just a few for the nighttime).

hang in there!! they will be potty training before you know it!

I'm sorry your system isn't working. Well, I'd think of a one-size dipe with your aristocrat--I use muttaqins hemp at night (so all natural fibers--but if she makes all cotton I think that would be great!). Someone mentioned SOS without fleece. I guess I'm thinking you would only need a few (if you don't change in the middle of the night and depending on how often you wash) and they would last till potty training and be good for the next baby as well!

The TP is the Trading Post.

I hope you find something that works! Good luck!
