I was wondering if any of you could make any recomendations for an OB/GYN in the philly area. I need one, and I have no idea how to go about finding a good one. (I've always gone off of recomendations before, but I don't know anyone here) I would prefer either University City or Center City area.
Also, do you know of fun things to do with an 8 month old here in philly? I want to get out more with my son, now that the weather is warmer, but I'm not sure what to do.
Thanks.

I lived in Philly from '99-'01 while my dh went to Penn. My ob/gyn (Dr. Gil) was at the University of Pennsylvania. I was 100% satisfied with every medical encounter I had at Penn (doc, dermatologist, ob/gyn). I don't remember what Penn's medical system is called but it is probably something like "University of Pennsylvania Medical Center". However, I didn't even know what AP was when I lived in Philly so I can't tell you if Penn is AP friendly. A friend of mine used a birthing center in Bryn Mawr and I could get that info for you if you would like.

We lived in Philly before we had our dd so I wasn't doing the kiddie sites. My friends seemed to really like the Please Touch Museum, the Franklin Science Center, and the zoo.

We miss Philly!

hi april! welcome to philly!

I used the midwives at The Birth Center in Bryn Mawr when dd was born, and I go there for well-woman care (reg visits) too. What part of the city are you in? Some people have liked the women's center at Chestnut Hill hospital, but that wouldn't make sense if you're in Center City or something.
There are other Philly moms around here - someone should know something!

As for fun things to do... I think it's very worth it to get a membership to the Please Touch Museum downtown. Your little one will be moving around soon & there's so much to play with there. Nice & air conditioned in the summer too, lol! There's also Smith Playhouse in Fairmount Park (that one's free admission). Let me know if you want more info on either.

There are so many amazing parks, I'm sure you know. If you want specific ideas I might be able to come up w/some, depending on where you live. I mostly know playground in the northwest.
Have you found a playgroup or anything just to connect w/other moms? There's a great one near me... Also you could try LLL meetings if you're nursing to meet moms, or mom & me yoga type things.

I will be moving into the Main Line area soon. Do you have suggestions for finding playgroups in that area? Mom & me yoga sounds fun! Also, are there any indoor play areas for toddlers? For example, many of the new malls in the South have fabulous indoor play areas.

Thank you!
