So, since this is my 3rd pregnancy, first girl, and probably last pregnancy....and I have exactly ZERO pictures of moi pregnant (all three times!!) we've decided to hire a photographer to take some belly shots and newborn pics.

I found one here locally that has great work...and, get this...she also specializes in birth photography!! Is this something you would do? We're having a hospital birth for various reasons...and her birth photo gallery brought tears to my eyes. I just can't decide if I want a virtual stranger in the room snapping away. She has some money shots in there....I guess I could keep those private...it sure would be nice to have some really, really good pictures of my daughter's first moments. My boys' birth photos (decidedly amateurish ) aren't anything to write home about.

Here's her site, if any of you would like to check her out...http://www.elainemariephotography.net/index2.php

Wow, those birth photos are beautiful! I got all weepy looking at some of them.

If I were you, I'd arrange a meeting with the photographer and see if you *click*, no pun intended. If she's a good photographer, she'll take the time to get to know you, to talk to you about what you're looking for, what you envison for your photoshoot. Then perhaps you won't feel so weird about having her at your birth. Also, if you do some maternity shots with her first, the birth photos won't be a stretch at all since you'll know what to expect.

I say go for it!

oh my! Can I just say that those images are absolutely beautiful!! Particularly the shots of the dad as he sees his baby for the first time. Makes me glad dad's are allowed in the room these days!!

I think if you can afford it and if you can book her, I would consider it. You could always ask her not to take the money shots, if you don't want her to.

I'd totally go for it!

Wow! It would be great to have professional pics done.

I like the idea of the maternity and newborn shots...but I would hate to have her there while labouring. (well, I guess if you really hit it off with her, and she had a good vibe it wouldn't be crazy terrible)

I'd also want to make sure she got pic's of my other children with the new edition

I hope you post some of your pic's if you do get them done!

Too cool!

I too have never had many pictures taken, and with this being our last (95% sure) I really want some pro pictures...

As far as pro pictures of the birth, man if you can afford it... do it! I wouldn't share any money shots, but the ones I saw were gorgeous!

it's a gift from DH's folks They said they would pay for the session fees and any prints they wanted to order, and we would purchase the prints.

I'm going to schedule a consultation. I'm excited!!

well I didn't cry until I saw the photo of the mom, dad and someone else in the photo crying....then i couldn't stop *blasted hormones*!*!*!

I would definately hire someone to do this! This is our 3rd and final too...we're definately taking more of our own photos, but this would be really neat to have too.

siighhhhh. Yeah I definitly shed more than a few tears... So amazing. the nice mariah carey in the background helped too, i'm such a wet rag!
Of course by the end I got mad ad DP for saying "oh my god she let them show her p***y on the internet?!?!" I should've just had my private moment instead of trying to get him to feel what I was feeling.
Oh well, I'm sure he's going to be crying when this baby does come out, he's really so sensitive deep down. Aren't they all?

LOL, my DH kinda had the same reaction to the money shots. I'm still working on him...he doesn't want her in the room, but I'm trying to get him to understand how quickly those first memories fade.
