Hi mamas! This is my first post though I've been a lurker for a while. My 2 yo DS is having some major adenoid/congestion/fluid in the ear issues and an ENT has recommended tubes and adenoid removal. He is experiencing hearing loss so I may go forward with the tubes but only recently have been discovering info about dairy sensitivity and these problems. Sooo... I'd like to eliminate dairy for a while to see if it helps.

The problem - my DS is PICKY and has been since day one. He HATED solids when first introduced at 7 months, so we backed off. He has always been sensitive to the look and texture of things. Cheese and yogurt (only recently) are his main sources of protein. He doesn't drink milk though. Cheese is my cure-all - I can "sneak" things like mashed beans or even tuna into a tortilla if there is melted cheese. So cutting out cheese leaves me scratching my head for ideas on WHAT to feed him to help him get protein.

Any picky toddler friendly ideas? I have gotten him to eat some fried tofu with syrup before because it resembles cut up french toast =).

Will he eat bean dip? Hummus and chips and refried or black beans and chips would be high in protein.

What about bean burritos? Peanut butter sandwiches? Oatmeal?

Both of my kids gobble up soy yogurt. My stepdaughter didn't even notice that it wasn't dairy yogurt until we told her months later.

DS loves peanut butter and jelly. More than I ever thought possible.

Both kids, no matter what their level of suspicion with green things at any given time, have consistently loved edamame.

Nut butters here. DS1 eats bp&j at every meal it seems, one before bed too. If you look at your dc's diet you will probably see how much protien they are actually getting. They don't need that much. Only 13 grams are adequate for a 2 year old. We are going off dairy too so my vegan friend shared this with me:

Remember whole wheat bread and grains etc.. have protien in them too.

My son has SPD (sensory processing disorder), so has a difficult time with textures, too. He loves tofu, cut up into little cubes. Maybe he thinks they're cheese cubes
, but he's getting his protein & liking the taste.
