pink eye help

368 Views 4 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  hypnohobbit
I think my youngest picked up pink eye, it started after lunch and hasnt gone away. Ive checked her eye to see if anything is in it, but didnt see anything. It looks like the pink eye I used to get when I was a kid, and my sisters too. Its very red/pink, watery and has a discharge on the corners. She itches/rubs it quite a bit as well.

Is there anything I can do to relieve this here at home without taking her to the doctors?

Breast milk if you have it, works the best.
warm compresses to clean the eye. you can soak a washcloth in warm water or in some chamomile tea, or in eyebright tea. There is a homeopathic remedy for eye issues as well, can't remember what it's called. I'll try to remember to look it up.

Drink eyebright tea, and take the capsules. Anything to stimulate the immune system to bring the bacteria back into balance.

Make sure you wash hands frequently, and launder all linens and items that come in contact with the affected eyes in hot water with a vinegar rinse to kill bacteria.
The only thing I can add to the previous posts is: Similasan makes wonderful (imo) homeopathic eyedrops. I found them at our local grocery store last year looking for saline solution for DS. I think there are 2 different types, we've used both for hayfever, allergies, and viral pinkeye. When one doesn't help the other usually does.
Good luck, hope she feels better!
