I'm 41 weeks and my doc will be inducing me at 42 if it comes to that. I'm nervous about this since I want a natural birth and this seems to act against it (can't labor at home at all, jump into active labor right away, etc.) I was wondering if anyone had any experience with an induced labor at Magee? I'm assuming I won't really be able to walk etc. as I'll have the monitor on. Will I at least be able to sit on my birthing ball or stand up or go to the bathroom to pee? Anyone out there?

thanks...

Back when DD was born, the ACOG standard for monitoring during labor called for it to be done for 15 minutes out of every hour, NOT continuously. Can you check into whether this is still the case and push for them to follow the standard?

It's worth a shot.

I have no clue about Magee. DS was born at West Penn and DD at Jeannette (almost with a CNM). Both ended up being surgical, though not for lack of trying or for us allowing the common interventions.

just wanted to send some hugs your way, mama. i was late w/ my babe and was faced with this decision too.
i don't know too much about magee, but if i were you i would start taking some serious walks, and all the other things that are supposed to stimulate labor. plus, make some time to talk to your baby and really visualize him or her coming out. i think that this should help get things going. if you are ok with it, too, you could ask your doc to stir things up a little by stripping your membranes. not to be confused with rupturing them, of course.

good luck and hang in there. your baby will be in your arms before you know it.
