Does anyone have any pictures of older buys rooms? My son is 7 and we need to paint his room. I'd like to take this time to change his room and wanted to incorporate some Waldorf elements. We're new to Waldorf, so I don't think it would be natural to suddenly drape his walls in rainbow silks and put up a nature table, but would like to do something with the decor. Any ideas? Oh, also- is it possible to decorate a childs room and cater to their temperament, either in color or decoration or lay out? Thanks,

You can do some faux Lazure painting on the walls. We did this for our daughter's playroom in the colors of the rainbow and it turned out nice. You could probably use blues or greens. I know there are corresponding colors to age groups, I just forget the specifics besides that peachy pink is for really young children. I believe either Beyond the Rainbow Bridge or You are Your Child's First Teacher talk about temperament and color. For example, I've read that a hyperactive child should be put in a red sweater because the mind is affected by the opposite of the color and you can use this to cater to your child. A nature table can be really simple. Go out for a walk and bring home some flowers, rocks, or maybe pinecones and lay them out on a small table or on the counter. Hope that helped a little since I don't have any older boys.

It's probably not all that "waldorfy" but we recently redid our 7 yo son's room from the original "baby" room he had to a castle/knight theme. I tried to keep it fairly simple, especially as viewed from his bed, but we made some of the walls look like a castle wall. I tried to do a lazure technique but wanted to cheap-out on the brushes, let's just say, "Buy the Brushes!" It was horrible and left brush hair everywhere, so I had to keep stopping to remove it and in the end redid that entire first wall. Plus what I found locally at a DIY store that resembled the lazure brush wasn't all that less expensive and the headache was terrible. In the end I used rags to do a mottled look.

Though our children's room were always blues/greens, in thought to soothe them, I recently found out that under age 9 they process them differently (as the PPer said) and so warm colors are soothing for them. LOL, gee, maybe that is why they never slept well as babies! Our room is blues, too!

PM me and I can send you a link to photos if you want.
