I read in the HGTV gardening section that peas should be planted when the forsythia blooms, basically that is an indicator that the weather is finally warm enough. Does anyone have any other indicators of good planting times like that?
Like, when lilacs get leaves start summer squash indoors, when clover blooms plant your fall carrots, or something (those aren't real examples, I wish they were).
I like the idea because it seems pretty fool proof, afterall, every year I tell my crocuses they're trying to grow too early and every year they survive the sudden cold snaps with no problems.
