I would check Australian sources. Perhaps xpost in the Australia/New Zealand Tribe for some suggestions.<br><br>
I already looked at the <a href="http://australianmuseum.net.au/research-and-collections" target="_blank">Australian Museum</a> website, the <a href="http://www.sydneyaquarium.com.au/dugong/index.html" target="_blank">Sydney Aquarium</a> website and the <a href="http://taronga.org.au/tcsa/media/video-gallery.aspx" target="_blank">Tarongo zoo</a> websites, which are the 3 places in Sydney that have exhibits of living or dead platypus. There isn't much there unfortunately. I know they have LOTS of stuffed animals, including platypus, in their gifts shops though...<br><br>
I would also look at Australian publishers for books - Angus & Robertson is one. <a href="http://www.gleebooks.com.au/" target="_blank">Gleebooks</a> in Sydney is an amazing, knowledgeable bookseller with a good children's section. If you do a search on their homepage for "Platypus", a long list pops up, and most seem to be children's books. They ship worldwide.<br><br>
Good luck with your search!

Totally thought you were talking about the band Platypus <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngtongue.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Stick Out Tongue"> and I was like "Hey, I like them too!" If you're crafty, I bet it wouldn't be too hard to make a felt platypus, they are pretty cute animals.

It's about a wombat who makes friends with a platypus.<br><br>
We don't have this book, but we have another book from the series, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325&tag=motheringhud-20&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FSometimes-Like-Curl-Up-Ball%2Fdp%2F140270870X%2Fref%3Dsr_1_3%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Dbooks%26qid%3D1259172501%26sr%3D1-3" target="_blank">Sometimes I Like to Curl Up in a Ball</a> (sorry no platypus in that one,) which we like a lot.

We have ordered some Australian related books, wombat and plactypus story books, at Australian ebay sellers. The shipment usually just took 1 week.

The DVD set <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325&tag=motheringhud-20&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FLife-Mammals-Vol-1-4%2Fdp%2FB000XCK0MS%2Fref%3Dsr_1_1%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Ddvd%26qid%3D1259254365%26sr%3D8-1" target="_blank">Life of Mammals</a> has a pretty cool section on platypuses (platypi?). The set is 4 discs about all kinds of mammals, narrated by David Attenborough, so if your son like animals in general, he'd probably really enjoy the rest of it as well.<br>
(yikes...I didn't realize how expensive it was. It looks like there are some cheaper copies from Amazon vendors though. If he's a big animal fan, I'd say $50 is worth it because the series has so much cool footage and it's really educational).
