Hi, all! My DH and I are SAHPs, and I think we'd like to socialize our 13 month old DD with some other children her age +/-, even if it's just parallel play. I think it would be fun to also get together with some like-minded parents to chat, and make some new friends in our area. We live in Wolcott, which is right outside of Waterbury if that helps. We'd probably be willing to drive 20 - 30 minutes. Is there anything like this nearby? TIA! :)

Hi! I'm in Bethany, CT and have found that our local libraries offer baby programming (Woodbridge & Cheshire), Music Together, Rascals (you might find a My Gym closer to you than Hamden or there's Whippersnappers) and our synagogue has a baby group open to non-members. Maybe call around to the local houses of worship to see what is being offered-- great resource. There's also a meetup online, "Mindful Parenting" that we've enjoyed very much. These outings were a lifeline for me as I transitioned from urban-professional life to suburban SAHM life. Also the hospital where we delivered has a free breastfeeding support group led by an LC and I made mom friends there. The Waterbury area must have similar offerings... oh, and there's a babywearing group on Yahoo that meets in West Hartford. I've met lovely families through these groups.

Anyone in the Waterbury area? Any more suggestions, even just for playdates or mom's groups?

Have you considered going to your local La Leche League meeting? I am friends with one of the leaders for the Southington group, and I know that one of their monthly meetings is actually in Wolcott. Here is their group info- http://www.lllct.org/southington

I don't know of anything else out your way, unfortunately. The Family Wellness Center in New Britain, where the Southington LLL holds their other meeting, hosts some really great (free!) playgroups. I think the 4th Wednesday of the month is the Families for Conscious Living (FCL) discussion group. I belong to FCL and have met some really great friends though the group over the years. FCL has a message board, much like this one, but everyone is in CT. Here is the website, if you want to check it out www.FCLCT.org

Hope that helps. :)
