I am expected dc #2 in early dec. We are planning to cd this time around - last time around I didn't know as much about cd, our local diaper service had just been dropped, and our neighborhood was going through a septic system crisis so I thought I couldn't do enough laundry! Anyway, I am excited to cd this time (and regret that I didn't last time - oh how much $$ I would have saved!). I want to get started in buidling my stash so I can spread the cost out a bit over the next few months.

But I am overwhelmed at all the choices, and do not have anywhere I can go to see the various different options in real life to get a better sense of them all. I need advice!

I am looking for diapers that are, most of all, comfortable, efficient at holding in the mess, and easy to care for....and, of course, cute! I am not sure where to start. I have a couple wool covers, and I am contemplating fitted diapers with covers; maybe some of the fuzzibuns style fleece lined diapers (what do those of you who use them have to say about them?); I also want to learn more about AIO's (they seem bulky and harder to care for - any thoughts??).

What has worked best for you???

thanks!

well, it's sort of out of date, but when i was pregnant with my fourth i did a page that's sort of like a thumbnail sketch of cloth diapering a newborn. although some of the diapers i list aren't around anymore, it's still pretty good as a starting point. it's just information, but i have tried to keep the links current.

it's at http://www.elliebelly.com/williamsdiaperpage.htm

i hope that helps some.

i really liked the tiny honeyboys a whole lot! i also though newborn softies and sweet peas and jobos were excellent, and i liked the kissaluv o's, especially in a nikky cover. my other favorite cover was a dancing bears fleece pull up, although i've since started to like wool covers, especially kiwis.

does any of that help? he was my fourth cd'd baby, so i like to pat myself on the back and think i know a little bit, lol.

What I did for the nb stage since they grow out of it so fast was to buy a starter pack - that had a little of everything for me to try. Prefolds, a couple types of fitteds, a fuzzi bunz, an AIO and a few covers. It was great to try everything and pick what worked best so that I had a bit of a clue as to what I wanted to buy for the next size up.
I came here and was sooo overwhelmed at first too

Congrats on the coming babe! :babe

When ds was a newborn I used a combo of Chinese Prefolds(cpf's)and fitteds(still do actually). I had some Kissaluvs size 0 and some preemie CuddleBuns. We use wool covers exclusively. I second the suggestion to start with a sample pack. Natural Babies has a few sample packs and their newborn one looks good.
