Please help my nausea.

I know this is SO COMMON that I hesitate to even write this, but I am 8 weeks pg with baby #2 and the nausea is KILLING me.

I actually feel okay in the morning. It kicks in around noon and eases up around 9 or 10 p.m. Sometimes it goes all night. No vomiting, but I feel like my face should be green, I am sooooo nauseous. It was not nearly this bad with pregnancy #1, so I don't really know what to do. I've heard peppermint and ginger are good. Any other advice for a green mama? I'm having a hard time keeping up with my 3 year old because I feel so sick.

i used sea bands with great results. i felt kinda sick sometimes, but i never barfed, and i could tell the difference when i didn't wear them. also this tea in particular with some honey made me feel so much better. it's got ginger to soothe the stomach, but it's not overwhelming like some other teas.
I read that they recently noticed a possible correlation between taking Milk Thistle and not having m/s. I was taking it already when I got pregnant, and when I checked with OB and MW they said I could keep taking it, so I am still taking it. I never had any m/s, and I wonder if this is why. They haven't done an official study yet on it.

I was taking Milk Thistle because it is a strong antioxidant, related to artichokes, that helps the liver to work more efficiently and not get so tired. The liver processed fats and alcohol and many toxins that we pick up from the environment.
I remember crystalized ginger helping before.

It's been 16 years between pregnancies and I made it almost to six weeks with no nausea with this one. It finally caught up with me a few days ago and what really helped was to grate some fresh ginger (about 1-2 teaspoons), make a tea out of it, and add a squirt of lime juice and a dab of maple syrup.
Taking vitamin B6 helped me. My midwives had recommended it.
I am wearing my sea-bands right now, and I think they really do take the edge off. I also started taking a homeopathic remedy, Sepia, and that has seemed to help, too. Homeopathy is very individualized, so I don't know that sepia would work in your particular situation, but there are many other remedies so you are likely to find a good match.

I haven't found much help from herbs, but some women swear by wild yam in the form of tincture or capsules. I found it made me jumpy. This just goes to show how individual we all are!

Don't feel bad about your mothering right now. You are a good mom and you are doing the best you can. Kids are so resilient and your 3 year old will not be any worse for the wear from this time. Yesterday was a particularly bad day for me and I parked my girls in front of the TV and let them eat whatever they wanted. They thought it was great.

Hang in there!

I drank a lot of Tazo teas...they make a green tea with peppermint, and a green tea with ginger that I found very soothing. And they were available at the regular old grocery store, which was a big consideration at the time. I did NOT feel like traveling to a Whole Foods-type or HFS, which there really aren't any around here.

Hope you find relief soon!
I had a papaya enzime pill. it was a GNC product. Did wonders. There is a more expensive one that is suppose to treat heart burn too. So you might want to consider that later in yur pregnancy.

Small high protein snacks can help. Almonds are my favorite. They have really great protein, but aren't as high fat as some things. They are also portable, don't need refrigeration and I LIKE them. I keep them all over the place so I can have a few every hour.

thirding the sea bands. and believe it or not coca-cola. my mw prescribed 8 sips a day. hugs to you -- btdt and it totally sucks.
I found sour hard candies ( I loved Eden's umiboshi plum candy) and tiny nibbles of ginger snaps to be helpful this time.
This may sound funny, but Ricola cough drops(the natural herb kind) helped to ease my morning sickness somewhat. They are also GREAT for indegestion whether you are pregnant or not,and they work very quickly. Also, lime popsickles helped me a lot.Good luck!
I also think ginger tea is really really helpful. I had crazy out of control morning sickness with my son, and now just sort of bad ms with this baby. Simmering some ginger in spring water and drinking it hot has been one of the best things I've found.

From times when I've been really desperate;
Slurpees
Potato chips and lemonade
Sour patch kids

Ugh, I know it is really tough. I hope it gets better for you very soon!
i don't have any advice, but i'm in the same boat! i had no m/s with dd or ds, but now i'm 4wks along and feel nauseated all the time (no throwing up, though).

i'm gonna try all these things myself. but right now, for some reason, something in me says i need popsicles. so i asked dh in the sweetest voice "baby, will you go get me some popsicles?" he said "sure" then kept on doing what he was doing. i said, "but i'm really tired, too. i think they'll help me feel better..." he said, "oh god, you are so pregnant!" and gave me a kiss
... dh is on his way to the grocery store to get them for me!
he takes care of me so well!

anyway, good luck, mamma. the only thing i've found to really help me right now is to make sure i eat often. i have to eat small meals, so i've been eating everytime i think to. water, too. that helps. . . . and popsicles . . . i hope . . .

I've heard that getting a little exercise every day can help too, even if it's just a 10-minute walk. HTH!

Papaya enzyme and activated charcoal are the only things that I found to REALLY work everytime. Charcoal worked the best - but it coats your insides and therefore not as many nutrients are absorbed from whatever you've eaten. And the papaya breaks the food down quicker for you so if you are experiencing heartburn with sour burps...this is not a great sollution....

I was on the popcicle kick for the first 5 months too...but, sometimes they'd just give me something to boot up..(I was very very nauseous..Even had a pillow next to the toilet awaiting my next visit)...So, I tried to stick to flavours that aren't as bad to vomit up. The citris left me burning.
:

Also, chamomile tea, and ginger in any form (but I love it in my tea) will both settle your stomache.

This will pass sooner than you know it....Hope these remedies help ease the belly....

I think I'm around 5 weeks or so, only found out a week and a half ago and haven't settled on a mw yet, so not sure. But for the last week and a half it has been all the time icky sick
I've been doing cut ginger root for tea, with raspberry leaf, which everyone keeps telling me helps, but so far...
: no fun pukeyness still. I have the papaya enzyme for heartburn, but haven't taken it yet because it says to check and I don't have anyone to check with yet *sigh*
It's hard to keep up with daycare with your head swimming.
Popsicles *have* helped, but I probably shouldn't just eat all popsicles all the time, so if anyone has found anything else that works well I'd really like to hear it, thanks

Wow mamas! Thank you so much! Here's what I've done: I took a big knob of ginger and grated it, put it in a mason jar, and added boiling water. Let it steep on the counter a few hours, added a little bit of honey, and stuck it in the fridge. I strain it off when I need some. I drink it warm or cold, just a few ounces at a time. It has quite a kick because I used so much ginger, but it is really good, and it is REALLY helping a lot.

Also, a friend gave me a motion sickness band that has been used by several of my mama friends. It actually gives you a tiny electric pulse in your wrist. It helps too, I think. Even if only to distract you!

I had horrible m/s until 17 weeks. I had to take prescription drugs just to keep down water. I was afraid it would never end.

I got sick of the ginger after a while. I started to crave anything lemony--lemonade, lemon bars, lemon candy.... My MW told me that lemons, particularly the smell of lemons, can alleviate m/s. Preggie Pop Drops worked too, maybe just because they are sour candy. I also craved mustard and pickles--something about the acid, I think!

My prenatal yoga teacher told me to do what you did with the ginger but to then add lime juice. That sounds so good!

Some women swear by vinegar. If you search the forum, you'll find great info and recipes.

Whatever works! Good luck. I know it's rough.
