Hello, I'm looking for help finding a pediatrician in the Eglin AFB area in the Florida panhandle that is supportive of delayed and selective vaccination. I live in Bluewater Bay so I'd like to find one in Niceville or Destin but I could go as far as Fort Walton Beach or Crestview if needed. I found one nearby that says she'll still see us if we don't vax but that she "strongly believes they are very important" and will basically try to push them on us at every appointment. I'm hoping not to have to deal with that so I'm hoping to find someone better. Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks!

Well, no one responded but I thought I should just follow up in case anyone is looking for a ped here in the future. Anyone in the Eglin AFB area in Florida, go check out Paul Tartarilla. He's in Crestview, which is a bit far, but I definitely recommend him! We had our first appointment with him today and it was great. He's super nice, cheery, did a thorough physical exam, gave us copies of our daughter's growth charts, and didn't give us any grief at all about not vaccinating. (He didn't even ask us to sign a waiver!)

I take my children to Paul Tartarilla at the Crestview Health Center. I LOVE him! We also live in Bluewater and he is so worth the drive. I delay for my kids but have friends that do not vaccinate at all that see him. His nurses are super sweet too!

I am trying to find a new one, as Paul is out of our range for insurance. He's great, but we can't name him on our insurance. We are in Santa Rosa Beach. Trying to find a Ped that is non-vax/delayed vax friendly around here is difficult.

He's not at Crestview Pediatrics anymore, though.

For sick visit appts, we just see Dr. Marsh in Santa Rosa Beach. He doesn't take any insurance at all. It's $50.00/visit and he doesn't ask. I don't tell.

Hi,

I was just wondering for Dr. Paul in Crestview, does he take Medicaid? I will be living in Shalimar but would drive to Crestview for a non-vax friendly ped who accepts Medicaid. Thanks!

Sorry for the late response, but he does take Medicaid. It's worth driving to him. Totally worth it.

I know this is an old thread, but it seemed better to post here than to start a new one! I went to a Mom-to-Mom group meeting at the local birth center and most of the moms said they use Paul Tartarilla in Crestview or Dr. Marie John in Milton. Unfortunately, neither accepts my insurance. Based on a few other responses I'm looking at Dr. Buchholz in Destin or Drs. Burton and Keefe in Niceville. I've heard mixed things on all three - some say they are okay with delayed/selective vax as long as you appear to be informed, some have said that they won't see you unless you totally vax. Does anybody have any more information, or know of another ped in the area that isn't going to be a pain to work with?

Thanks in advance.

I'm wondering if there are any additional pediatricians in the area that support delayed/no vacs (or any updates on other leads). I'm going to set up an appointment with Burton & Keefe tomorrow but I'm thinking I should ask the receptionist if they accept patients that are not vaccinated. We just moved here and the main pediatrics clinic at our previous town would NOT see you if you didn't. I'm not sure how Florida works but they were able to outright refuse patient care in South Dakota.

Are there any updates to Pediatricians in the Santa Rosa/Destin/Niceville area that take an alternative schedule? I do believe in immunization but only do one shot at a time and as quickly as possible making each only a week apart until she is caught up. We just don't do the multi shots!

Paul Tartarilla is now at White-Wilson FWB and he will let you space them any way you want. Note to everybody: he only moved from Crestview to Fort Walton because W-W said he could take non-vax/selective vax patients. They have since changed their minds and may start refusing to see us unless we are fully vaxed. I did hear of a pediatrician at W-W Bluewater that starts with M who will see non-vax, but I haven't confirmed it yet.

Vaccine Friendly Doctors Niceville area

Hi!

Just wondering if there was any update on whether or not Tartarilla is still allowed to take selective vax/non vax patients.. Also, was the Blue water WW doctor that started with 'M' Dr Meeks?

Meeks sounds right, but I haven't tried to go see him/her because we haven't been dropped. We are selective/delayed, not non-vax, so maybe we don't qualify for ostracizing by management? Paul didn't mention anything at our last visit about how that's turning out. I will ask him next month when we go in.

Also to clarify, Paul is pro-vax, pro-vitamins, etc, he just believes everyone has the right to decide what's best for them. If you're anything other than decisive he'll gently encourage you to do the shots. His nurse is very sweet but she is DEFINITELY pro-vax and usually says "we just love you so much, that's why we protect you from those nasty icky viruses and diseases" (or similar) in baby-talk while popping the shot. I could do without that part, but like I said, she's very kind and doesn't try to lecture.

Thanks for getting back to me. I called Tartarilla's office today to try to set up a consultation appt prior to my delivery in Dec and was told they don't do that. Also, asked the receptionist if he would take selective/delayed vax patients and was sternly told "they WILL be vaccinated or discontinued from the practice". SOOO, going to try Dr. Meeks and Keefe/Burton. We are definitely not against vaccines and have done our research, just would like to be able to choose and or delay/space out.
Just want a pediatrican that will work with us :)

Hi:)
Were you able to find a pediatrician? We are in Niceville and were using Dr Paul till he moved to White Wilson. We are non vac and I'm due in about five days ;) So I'd like to find someone soon. Any help would be great! Thank you

We are in Niceville area and need to find a pedi that will except us being non vac. We don't go to the doctor often, but I need a newborn check up (EDD Nov 22nd, and I'd like to have the option for my other two children in case they get sick. We do more homeopathic and preventives (vitamins etc) then rush to the doc for antibiotics.

Anyways, if someone in the area finds a good pediatrician please contact me. Thank you!

We were referred to dr Marie johns by our chiropractor. She is in pace fl so it's a bit of a drive but I spoke with her on the phone and she openly talked to me for 30 minutes. She works along side an herbalist and doesn't administer vaccines. She's open to how you want to approach things, she definitely is not pro vaccines but will work with you if you want to do some of them etc. We haven't seen her yet, but I'm due dec 6 and plan on going to see her when the baby's a week old or so. Going to see how we like her and go from there! Don't know if you're open to a drive, but we figure that if we arent vaccinating or not doing all vaccinations, then we wouldn't be making it very often. Let me know what you find!

Ok great, thank you! It is a drive, but I agree it wouldn't be that often so it may work.
Congratulations! Our babies will be born really close together. That's exciting!
I'll post if I find anyone closer.

Just wanted to update this.. Was referred by my lactation consultant to dr Gonzales in blue water bay. It's called Florida urgent and family care and he is wonderful. Will do shots, if wanted, but does not advocate for them persay. Have seen him for my daughter's 4 month and 6 month visits and am very impressed!
