Please help -- I don't have time to do a ton of research right now, but I know many of you out there will have some info. for me ....

Are there established linkes between vaccinations and seizures in toddlers? Which vaxs are the most notorious? What's the general time frame between the vax being given and a seizure happening?

ANY credible research/links/info you have would be much appreciated.

Now I have a bit more time to post some specifics about my question.

My ds had a whole bunch of seizures in a 24 hour period in December. He had two grand mal and quite a few small ones that the EEG detected at the hospital. He had been immunized the week before.

He was on anti-seizure meds for a few months and has just recently stopped taking them. Currently, they think it was food poisoning (which is a whole other scary topic) not epilepsy, but I'm always wanting to figure out the mystery once and for all.

He did NOT have a fever when he had the seizures.

Thanks for any additional info you may have.

One word: PREVNAR.

It is notorious for causing horrible seizures. I will post links asap...but had to share!

Hep B? I've read this leads to epileptic type seizures as well as tourettes syndrome.

Go to http://www.medalerts.org/ and do search database, type in seizures under symptoms....

there's quite a few that seem to have seizures as an adverse reaction... since they all seem to affect the nervous system....maybe the best thing to do would be to look back at what vaccines your child received right before having the seizures... and then researching those ones...

here's another good site
http://www.avn.org.au/vaccinations&c...tions-info.htm

Yep. Prevnar is the one he had before all of his seizures. Got those links handy? I want to read every word.

I don't have any good links, but this was our experience:
at 14 months my ds (who had shots at 4 mo and 6 mo before we stopped vaxing) had a febrile seizure and we went to the ER. The very first thing the EMTs, triage nurses, and Dr asked us was if he had been recently given the MMR. My sister had a febrile seizure just following her MMR shot in 1982.

Prevnar was the only one he got? I'm also curious to know on what basis they think he had food poisoning?

Here's reporting info:
http://vaers.hhs.gov/

You might like to look up this article:
Be prepared, though, for the docs to tell you this is a coincidence, or totally normal.

Actually, we all had food poisoning that day. Same symptoms, no fevers, ran its course in about 8 hours. I still tend to think that his seizures were due to food poisioning (he had low blood sugar when we went to the hospital which food poisoning can trigger and which, in turn, can trigger seizures) ... but can't help but wonder if his recents vaxs had an impact too.

Thanks for all the info you've shared so far.

Wow, that list looks pretty intimidating. Anybody actually read any of these studies? Think the Thinktwice guy has actually read them?
