i have asked this on health and healing but didn't get much response. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME. ANYTHING you guys can say will help.

ok like a year ago my ear started itching. i thought it was nothing. but it got really bad so i went to the dr a few months ago. it is an outer ear infection. i tried lots of natural anti-fungals. yogurt, garlic, etc. i also tried a very strict anticandida diet for a month. the book said i could introduce foods back into my diet after a few weeks, but i don't know if it helped. i have morning sickness so sometimes i have bread or juice or other "no no's." really anything i can make myself eat goes in at this point. it got really bad and one day i went to a dr and they gave me some lotrimin drops. they did not help but just a little. so i went to a so-called natural minded MD. he was very nice and encourage me to stick to the anticandida diet. he gave me some lotrimin drops but said there is bacteria in there too. the only thing safe for pregnancy he could prescribe were some antibiotics eye drops to be put in the ear. he said antibiotics would help, but understood why i didn't want them. mainly i don't want to get a yeast infection. i guess monistat is safe while pregnant. they say it is so...maybe i should just bite the bullet and do antibiotics and monistat. i'm afraid the yeast will give me a UTI. i'm on probiotics. maybe i need better ones. or need to triple the dose?

would antibiotics help? wouldnt the fungus grow or do i really need to kill the bacteria? why can't my body fight this?

how to prevent yeast with abx? if i do take the antibiotics should i just get some monistat or start yogurt and garlic suppositories right away? or wait until i feel a little yeasty.

maybe just wait until next time i HAVE to have antibiotics..bladdar infection or surgery or something. i do not like taking them. but i will for a really bad bladdar infection. or if i have to have a D&E. hopefully i will not have to have one of those again!!

right now i want to go to the health food store and get some grapefruit seed extract. i had an herbal ear drop with gse in it, but i maybe i need to make my own drops. when i get colostrum i can put some in there. that has GOT to help, right?

so today i'm picking up my last refill of drops...take now or save it when i can be strict on the anticandida diet again? sometimes i feel so sick i will just eat whatever. and no matter how much healthy food i buy, i eat it all before i go to the store and end up eating whatever is left in our cubbards. my husband like some mildly sugary cereals like raisin bran and white flour waffles and such. so at 3am when i feel like i'm going to vomit all over the place, i might go for that

ok any help would be great. i'm feeling desperate. some days the itchiness is quite manageable. sometimes it does drive me crazy, especially depending on what i eat.

dh thinks when the next baby is weaned, i should take a diflucan pill or whatever it takes. i have yeast issues!

thanks!

AFAIK, an outer ear infection is never treated with oral abx. And I've never had a problem with topical abx (which are prescribed for outer ear infection) and yeast infection.

okay. thanks. anyone else think that you shouldn't treat it with oral abx? i read a few places that said a persistent case might need abx. and what would you do if you have take all the ear drops prescribed plus 2 refills and it was still itchy?

Aww, nichole...that sucks.
I think the "why" is probably because you're pregnant, and your immune system is out to lunch right now.
Have you thought about going back to the doc to have another culture done to find out exactly what is growing in there right now?

Is it itchy and HURTING, or just itchy? An outer ear infection is typically painful if you pull the ear back a bit.

If it's just itchy, I'd guess there's no infection, but maybe some yeast built up...in which case maybe Nystatin would help?

Get some bm from a girl friend and try it. Works for everything from what I've read.
Grapefruit seed oil. Or Tea tree oil. I would keep trying different things. I would NOT take abx.

hey i just want to explain this. it isn't the antibiotic drops that are giving me yeast. i think it is the sugar that i eat which feeds the yeast rendering the drops ineffective. i went to the store today and got some healthy things so maybe i will do better.

ok i will not take the antibiotics. i rather have a yeasty ear than a yeasty vagina for some reason my ear is out of control.

it used to hurt, but since i started treatment it just itches sometimes. like at night. i'm scared i'm gonna use all my medicine and be screwed. maybe i can just use over the counter lotrimin cream on nights when i just can't stand it. or maybe yogurt.

i think breastmilk is so powerful. i should have colostrum soon. my girlfriend is drying up and i keep forgetting to ask her for some. bm cured my son's eye goop as a baby in two doses! woop.

i will get some grapefruit seed extract. why apple cider vinegar instead of white vinegar? i tried distilled white vinegar and for some reason it did make it worse.

you guys are AWEOME. i will go with my gut and not go get the antibiotics. my dh had an infected cut on his leg. it was getting border line and the dr said he could try to fight it on his own and he did. i know it is possible.

Nichole,

I am really sorry for you.
The first thing that comes to my mind is the diet - please, if you have time, write a detailed daily menu for me (it can also be PM). Maybe I have an idea or two. Also, many diets can claim to be anti-candida - have you tried different ones? I know one...
And another idea - please don't be disgusted. Have you considered urine therapy? External, of course. It worked for me for eyelid infections.

hey i will be happy to write a diet for you. i will try to get it to you in a few days. i know i have been cheating. i have had some fruit juices and breads and such. sometimes i feel like i am going to vomit or pass out so i have been cheating. i figure i need to be able to tend to my son!

the anticandida diet was from The Yeast Connection. I was not thriving on it can't do it while pregnant. i have tried 3 times and always give up after a few weeks. then i end up binging on pizza lol. so any ideas are welcome but i don't know if i have the energy to do this a fourth time. we will see! i definately cannot do the caveman diet although it seems like it would work.

White vinegar can be adulterated by acetic acid produced as an industrial by- product of processing petroleum.

Vinegar as an antibacterial product. Vinegar is used to eliminate bacteria that could be harmful to people's health. It avoids the growth of fungus, it disinfects food processing equipment, and neutralizes the unpleasant smell of certain foods

White Distilled Vinegar
The distilled white vinegar is most commonly used is prodcued through the acetic fermentation of diluted distilled alcohol. The distilled alcohol is derived from different sources like sugar cane, corn grains, molasses, etc.

Apple Cider Vinegar
This vinegar is produced through the alcoholic fermentation and subsequent apple juice acetification. This is probably the second most commonly used vinegar.
