I put my post there because I thought that's where it belongs, but I'm not getting any replies. Please if you can, help! My 11-month-old is so congested that she can't nurse, and NOTHING is decongesting her - and I'm worried about her getting dehydrated. She's nursed, um, 4 times since Tuesday at 9am (usually does 6-8 a day plus water and solids), and had a few sips of water, but that's it. And no solids since Tuesday around 8am. She's not currently dehydrated, but I don't want her getting into trouble. I've tried all the standards - steam, saline, sleeping upright, the dreaded nasal aspirator, decongestants - even essential oils - and nothing is breaking up the congestion enough for her to nurse more than a few sucks and then get angry and refuse to go back on - won't nurse upright or laying on top of me tummy to tummy. I've also tried giving her the BM I'm expressing in a cup, straw, syringe, and as boobcicle -and she wants nothing to do with any of it. Apparently when she gets thirsty enough she wants water from a straw, and that's it.

ANYONE have ANY ideas????? My breasts are screaming at me even though I'm expressing every couple hours, and I'm having nightmares about her being hospitalized for IV fluids. Which I guess at this point might not be a bad idea. SHe's sleeping now but breathing through her mouth - every time she readjusts and tries to close it, she can't breathe.

I would wonder why nothing is helping in the way of easing her congestion. I would think something would have to work. I really have no other thoughts except you may want to post in health and healing to see if anyone has some other suggestions as far as decongestion goes. Hugs to you mama and I hope she gets better soon!
