DD had bronchiolitis at six weeks and at 5.5 mo. Yesterday she had a clear runny nose and very watery eyes. Starting yesterday evening she began coughing quite a bit and wheezing very badly. We took her to the pedi this morning and he said she didn't sound as though she had bronchiolitis or pneumonia. Her cough fluctuates between wet and juicy, or dry and hackish. Sometimes it sounds whiney sometimes not. When she wheezes it sometimes sounds crackly. I feel so bad for her and I'm so worried. I want to make sure it isn't something more than a simple cough/cold.

I was even wondering if it might be allergies. We discovered mold on one of our window sills and cleaned that yesterday. We also made sure to get rid of any mold anywhere else in the house today. So, maybe it's an allergic cough. Anyways, if you would kindly give a listen and tell me what you think! I'd really appreciate it. Some of the video sounds like dead air because when we'd try to turn it on right when she'd cough, we'd miss it!

One more thing, sometimes she'll go ten minutes without a cough and then spend five minutes coughing. I don't hear any whooping and she can get her breath.

Cough1

Cough2

Not trying to sound overly dramatic, but I think it does sound a lot worse in person. I certainly hope it's just a simple cough albeit bad. I'd hate for my poor DD to have pertussis or croup.

Has a doc listened to it?
She sounded young in the sound bit, less than 1. And a cough in an infant can be serious.
I wasn't making light of it, I just didn't want for you to loose any unnecessary loss of sleep over it. I put it that way b/c of course you are up at night listening to her coughing.
If you were me -- I might consider taking her to the docs, especially if wheezing continued or seemed to be getting worse. I'd more likely give it a few days and shoot for the docs before the weekend b/c as past experience has shown the weekend everything goes down hill and the office is closed.

We took her to the pedi this morning, but it's gotten worse since then. She's six months old and this is her third cough! Geesh! I was hoping to avoid this until she was older. I can dream can't I?

I talked to my mom and she made me feel better about the situation. DD doesn't have a fever, she's happy, but very tired as she's falling asleep fairly easy. She's nursing plenty. I think I'm just you're run of the mill overly worried, first time mom.
