Ok so dh has had very sharp intermittent stabbing pains in his left flank for almost a week. They are getting worse and closer together. He had a fever of 102 for 2 straight days. He has been to the doctor 3 times and the ER once. They all say it is muscular which we know is BS. They dipsticked his urine, no RBC, so they said it is not a kidney stone. I pointed out the 15% of people with kidney stones never have either gross or microscopic blood in the urine and begged for a renal ultrasound to no avail. He cannot drive, he cannot eat, he is military and they force him to do PT. After this he comes home and vomits for an hour. Nobody is listening. I think I am going to have to pay out of pocket for him to see a nephrologist because these stupid docs don't know how to diagnosis and refuse to even offer the tests. I am afraid he could have renal reflux, a cyst, this could be ruining his frickin kidneys as we speak. If he has to have his kidney removed I will own all of them. When it hits he literally screams and falls to the ground. Now he is not a wimp he has had oral surgery without anaestetic so he can take pain. Anybody BTDT? What was it? I need ideas now cause the doc are not even willing to look.

Not unless we pay out of pocket. The military picks who we can and can't go to and when they will let him go. He just got a call from his doc in which they told him and I quoute, "Suck it up and quit being a p*ssy. It is just muscle pain take 2400mg of motrin everyday and it will go away." Ok my dh also has a history of severe stomach isssues (possible ulcer which the docs are also ignoring) so he is not suppossed to take ANY NSAIDS. I am thinking of calling in patient advocacy. Last night they gave him an injection of pain reliver and a cortisone shot and didn't help. So I know if it was a muscle pain it would have gone away.

You really need to have it checked by a specialist, it could be serious.
Hope you find a more agreeable doc... it's hard when you don't have a choice... you can't treat it if you don't know what it is. Even then, try not to resort to the use of drugs, they will make IBS worse.
What is your DH eating?
Different foods have different effects on the kidney. According to the WAPF website, foods high in oxalates (soy is number one, then spinach, rhubarb, chard, kale - raw) will bind calcium in the kidneys and form stones in susceptible individuals.
Also, they say magnesium, B6 and saturated fats as well as omega 3-s are needed for healthy kidneys. Vitamin A is very important (cod liver oil).
Polyunsaturated fats and sugars are also a no-no.
Some people with kidney disease are advised to limit protein but I'm not sure about this one.
