Smoke from turkey bacon is NOT the same thing as tobacco smoke! Think about it- would you eat a cigarette?

Being in a smoky kitchen isn't the best thing, but in no way does it equate to being in a smoky bar! Heck, I'd rather be in a smoky kitchen than smell somebody who just smoked a cigarette outside and didn't change his clothes!

perhaps, mama, perhaps...

Now, before you start beating yourself on the head with that skillet...

This is not at all like a smoky bar. I mean, do you feel sick and have irritated lungs and eyes after standing right there cooking it? If you want to decrease the smoke, maybe decrease the heat a bit.

Of course you are not a bad mom.

I don't understand. Are you feeling guilty about a smokey kitchen or about the comment? Neither one should make you feel guilty, you cooked bacon. It is food and smells like food. Maybe if you were cooking 10lbs of bacon without ventilation, but it sounds like you only cooked a few pieces. You are being a good mama and wife, it sounds like to me, just crack a window next time.

Now, if this is the baddest thing you ever do as a mom--infuse your kid with bacon aroma--I think you'll be writing expert books someday. Believe me, no harm done. He may end up with an affinity for bacon after watching you cook it and smelling it's lovely smell. I haven't heard anything or read anything about second hand bacon.

Since "real" bacon is made from pork, turkey bacon is made from turkey. It's used as a healthy alternative since pork is more fatty.

It's bacon made from turkey rather than pork. IMHO, it's not as yummy as bacon made from piggies, but I believe it is much leaner.

ETA - Oops sorry to be redundant...I must have been posting while the pp was posting too.
