Dh and I have each picked 4 names. I don't like his names and he doesn't like mine lol. So can you all help us narrow it down please? Our last name is Tavera if that helps.

eta: Dh really wants Sarah Elizabeth after our grandmother's names. But I think Sarah will rhyme with our last name and at least with Seraphina its unique and doesn't rhyme but still works.

I picked two - Caroline Grace and Sophia. Sophia was on our list of possibilities, and I like the classic sound of Caroline. Could you guys compromise, perhaps one first name you like and either Sarah or Elizabeth as a middle name? Or Elizabeth Sarah, so the first name wouldn't rhyme with your last name if that's what you don't like about it?

Good luck!

I love Caroline, we're thinking of using that as a middle name should we be surprised with a girl. Serephina and Sarah are also nice.

Well, I only picked one, but I would have picked two if I had even tried!! I like both Caroline Grace and Ava/Eva Grace. Both sound very nice with your last name.

I went for Seraphina, Caroline, and Ava/Eva b/c they aren't too common. I like more uncommon names. Ava is on our girls' list right now too. I don't like Eva though.

It's a regional thing, I think. We get lots around here too. And Grace. And Sophia. Especially for the last 5-6 years. But! That's because they are lovely names: solid, sound, traditional, pretty. So it's not necessarily a bad thing.

I personally think that some people place too much emphasis on 'uniqueness'. <shrug> To each his own.

Seraphina is my pick, with Maria as second choice.

The others are all very common and thus have lost a lot of their lustre. Seraphina is more unusual and I like its old-fashioned sound. Maria is never heard in my circles (crunchy white folks) and thus has a nice old-school ring to me.

I chose Sophia, although I like Caroline too. I do agree that Sarah with your surname may sound a little bit sing-songy because of the rhyming, even though it's a lovely, classic name.
