Pocket Diaper question

If you are using a pocket diaper like Fuzzi Bunz and your baby pees but doesn't poop, so that the inner stuffing is wet but the fleece is clean and dry, can you just restuff and reuse? Or is that gross and a no-no?

Thanks!

I do that all the time! The only time I don't, is when I haven't been able to change my baby on time, and he has soaked the soaker inside completely. Then the outer micro is kind of gross....

Well you really *shouldnt* do that -- fleece is not like wool, its not anti-microbial. Even though it wicks moisture through and sort of feels dry, its not. There is pee in there.
That's true. I bet I haven't had any problems doing that because we mostly were fitteds anyway...

Well the police wont come arrest you, but imo the fleece isn't really clean, just because the fleece feels dry doesn't mean it hasn't been peed on. To me its kind of like a DD user saying its okay to go 6 hours because the top layer feels dry. KWIM? At the same time I don't change a pocket diaper right at first pee. (thats what makes them my Nighttime long car trip ect diaper so for me I don't orry about changing every 30 mintues or what ever but once the insert is wet enough to need chaging I change it all.

Ahhh, no, cuz the fleece still has pee on it, just dried. It also WILL get a smell after a while if you do this, due to the ammonia building up. If you wanna use the pocket over, try putting the stuffer on top of the layer like an aio if you must reuse it.
I'd never do it. That's not saying it's right or wrong though. I am just a clean freak and wash everything a million times.

ITA w/Deanna. That's kinda gross!
I wouldn't either. BUT, since I usually use pocket AIO's on car trips, I keep a couple of hemp stuffers and a big rectangle of suedecloth in my diaper bag as an emergeny diaper... Then I would just restuff with clean stuffers and use the clean suedecloth against baby. Not ideal, but would work in a bind, and be better than leaving the peed on inner against him.
ok, since it's gross Iwon't do it anymore... lol Seriously, I never really thought about it before. I thought there is no pee clinging to the micro... what do I know? Sometimes I get carried away posting anything that comes to my mind and well....sometimes I don't know what I'm talking about I guess! lol I don't make pockets and the regular aios you can re-use with new soakers so I thought maybe you can do the same with pockets... I even thought I have heard people say they do that before. Anyway, so now they seem so much more expensive to me! I only own 5 pockets and always use my fitteds first! Pockets take longer to put on.

Pockets are kind of pricey but I think they're worth it for us - they keep her dry, the soakers don't move around (I hate that) and they are trim. They're great for the babysitter to use!

Hey, wanted to tell ya - my DH's family lives near you - in Emmitsberg. lol! We're going to visit them soon.

I haven't done it yet, but I guess I won't, either! Didn't think about that... Thanks, everyone...
One thing I have noticed about pockets is that they are somehow easier to clean than AIOs!

Cool Lori! You should visit me...

I have done it in a pinch before i had so many pockets. I don't think its necessarily gross, but its not something i do all the time either. Like when we were at somoenes house last week and he pooped one diaper and the other one was wet and i had no more. I took the wet one off and hung it on her pool fence to dry and air out and when it was dry i stuffed it with the extra prefold i always carry just to get us home.
Look at you Kim! You're a postaholic!

I don't restuff mine, but that's cause I have plenty of dipes now. But knowing how few dipes you have, I'd be tempted to reuse everything!

Let me know what you like and don't like!

Dont feel bad, I asked the very same question.
I wouldnt mind doing it everynow and then or for an emergency but not on a regular basis.
EEEEEW!!! That reminds me of the guys in college that didn't wash their clothes every time, they just threw them in the dryer w/ a dryer sheet!!!

I don't recycle my worn clothes, so I definitely won't do it for DS!!
Nope - that fleece may be dry, but it is NOT clean.

yuck
I wouldn't do it either because to re-stuff it you have to put your hand between the PUL and the fleece pretty much up to your elbow! The top of the fleece may feel dry but the pee sits against the back of the fleece and the PUL so I sure don't want to stick my hand in there! Sure I wash my hands anyway after a diaper change but that's too much for me!
Nope.. I think it would smell even with the new insert in there.
