Okay so starting in the fall we are TTC once again...where's the excited smiley.

So here's the background info:

Now with dd I used a snugli the first four or five months and then switched to a ring sling after that (when she could sit and do the hip carry). I could never get the hang of slinging her little. But I have a friend who did with her daughter and will show me how. I was able to do the hip carry best, never got used to the kangaroo carry, and was afraid to try the back carry.

So here's my poll:

Newborn - favorite sling/carrier? Why? Versatility (ability to put in different positions? Is this sling better for winter or summer? Can it grow with baby (meaning as she gets bigger can I do different holds - like the hip hammock is just one way KWIM?)

3-6 month age - favorite sling/carrier? Why? Versatility? Better for winter or summer?

How did/do you wear your newborn (position), how did/do you wear your older infant most often? How did/do you wear your toddler most often?

What cloth did you prefer for Winter? Summer?

Thanks for answering my poll type questions

**Stretchy wrap like the MamaKangaroo. Wonderful, soft, versatile - just perfect for newborn! Theoretically it can "grow" with the baby, but I don't think so. When the baby begins getting heavier, the stretchy material tends to sag and it is not so comfortable anymore.
**The second of my favorites was a pouch: Hotsling and Heavenly Bundles are the best. Easy to put on, but not as versatile as the wrap. This baby happened to like the cradle carry, but many don't. If your baby likes tummy-to-tummy, it is trickier to do with a pouch than with a wrap..

3-6 month age - favorite sling/carrier? Why? Versatility? Better for winter or summer?
**My baby is 3 months now and we use them ALL! I like them all for different things. I have a Freehand which I love to use for long carries and back carries. I also still love my pouch for kangaroo carry. And I just recently got a new wrap since my baby got too heavy for the stretchy one: a Didymos!!! OMG - that thing is WONDERFUL! I have the Indio Rubirot and the Indio weave is actually pretty thin and nice in the summer! If only could buy ONE carrier, it would be a Didymos. The Didy is also even more comfortable than the Freehand for VERY long carries, but the downside is that it can be a little tricky to deal with that much fabric when in public. So I am very happy I have quicker alternatives
It is great having a pouch for when the baby has to be in and out a lot (like in church) and it is still easier for me to do back carries in a MT.

**My new baby loved the tummy-to-tummy in a wrap or the cradle carry in a pouch. Now he likes the tummy-to-tummy in a MT or Didy and the Kangaroo in a pouch when he is awake (he is 13 weeks by the way)

**I had my baby in the spring time, so I am not sure about winter babywearing. But so far, the MT has been very good for the summer. I had a Gypsy Mama wrap which was the coolest of them all, but I sold it so I could order a new keepsake one. Now that I got the Didymos, I am rethinking that because surprisingly enough, the Didy has been very comfortable in hot weather too - I just do a modified wrap with the straps bunched up and one layer against my baby

This is a tie between the Moby (stretchy wrap) and my (multiple) Hotslings (pouch). The pouch is great for errands and such, especially since I have to go out more often for things for dd. The wrap is so nice at home and for the park/longer periods of time. I'm looking forward to a looong use of the Hotsling as a hip carrier later on. I think the pouch is great for any season. The Moby is a heavier fabric, so I haven't used it as much since it got warmer - but I'm not sure any carrier is going to be cool in the summer, KWIM?

I keep ds in a modified cradle/kangaroo hold - he's not all the way lying down, but he can see out and about. The Moby, you can do a cradle hold but I never had him in that, just tummy-to-tummy, and we've just started doing an outward-facing position with it.

Summer - I've been getting a lot of use out of my solarveil hotsling since it got warm. I also got a water wrap from Gypsymama.com and used it for the first time yesterday - so far I really like it. I'm looking forward to getting a fleece hotsling in the fall.

I used a Bjorn with Aly until she was 2.5 months old and I hated it!! She never liked ring slings or pouches and I didn't know how many other options there were when she was a newborn so my only advise is DON'T USE A BJORN!

A Mei Tai!!! My favorite has been my angel pack because it had a big body and was good for when her feet are inside tucked under her bum. I also have a freehand now which is also great but better for back carries and legs out front carries.

How did/do you wear your newborn (position), how did/do you wear your older infant most often? How did/do you wear your toddler most often?

I carried her in a front carry with her legs in in the Mei Tai until recently. We just this past week started doing back carries and legs out front carries with the Mei Tai.

The Mei Tai's were great in the winter but they're getting a little warm now so I ordered a Gypsy Mama Gauze wrap, I'm hoping it will be cooler. My Walking Rock Farm Hip Carrier is good for hot days, but I only use it for short trips and errands because it isn't as comfortable as my Mei Tai's.

When my dd was a newborn, I used a bjorn, which was great for a little while (but it got painful fast!). I think an MT would be great for a newborn if the legs are tucked in. Or get an adjustable meitaibaby mt.

I switched from a bjorn to an MT and love it. My dd is almost 5 months now. I was able to put her on my back easily by myself on the first day I got my adjustable MT. That allowed me to finally do dishes while carrying her! An MT is very versatile. I live in Florida, and it's been fine so far this summer (when it gets super hot in August, I won't want to be outside period).

How did/do you wear your newborn (position), how did/do you wear your older infant most often? How did/do you wear your toddler most often?
I wear her most often on my back when I want to get stuff done around the house. On errands that involve walking (e.g. stores), I carry her on my front with her arms out. She loves it.

Brocade seems to be fine for summer. I would avoid the winter materials like curduroy.

Newborn - favorite sling/carrier? Why?

Mobywrap, Mamababy, kkafp (winter only) slingset (summer)

3-6 month age - favorite sling/carrier? Why? Versatility? Better for winter or summer?

Kozy carrier (type of Mei tai), Maya Mai Tai coming soon, and Mayawrap

How did/do you wear your newborn (position), how did/do you wear your older infant most often? How did/do you wear your toddler most often?

I carried my newborn all day. Toddlers...it goes in waves for them.

What cloth did you prefer for Winter? Summer?

Winter: I think a Winter angelpack would be nice. www.attachedtot.com and a kkafp for winter.

Summer: LOVE anything in the Mayawrap fabric.
