Not surprising, and I don't know anything about this research center, but there you have it:<br><br><div style="margin:20px;margin-top:5px;">
<div class="smallfont" style="margin-bottom:2px;">Quote:</div>
<table border="0" cellpadding="6" cellspacing="0" width="99%"><tr><td class="alt2" style="border:1px inset;">Forty-one percent of respondents said Bush's presidency will be seen as unsuccessful in the long run, while 26 percent said the opposite. Thirty-five percent said it was too early to tell, according to the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press.</td>
</tr></table></div>

<div style="margin:20px;margin-top:5px;">
<div class="smallfont" style="margin-bottom:2px;">Quote:</div>
<table border="0" cellpadding="6" cellspacing="0" width="99%"><tr><td class="alt2" style="border:1px inset;">Seven in 10 said they want the next president to offer policies and programs that are different from the Bush administration's.</td>
</tr></table></div>
And here's a head-scratcher:<br><br><div style="margin:20px;margin-top:5px;">
<div class="smallfont" style="margin-bottom:2px;">Quote:</div>
<table border="0" cellpadding="6" cellspacing="0" width="99%"><tr><td class="alt2" style="border:1px inset;">Almost half of Republicans said Bush's policies have made the deficit worse and just 12 percent say he has improved that situation.</td>
</tr></table></div>
Are those 12% just totally unaware of the numbers here?<br><br><a href="http://apnews1.iwon.com/article/20051013/D8D7EVLG0.html" target="_blank">http://apnews1.iwon.com/article/20051013/D8D7EVLG0.html</a>

I can name six people I know who think that Saddam was behind 9/11. I can name six people I know who strongly support the war in Iraq. Is it a coincidence that these are the same six people? Doubtfull...<br><br>
Granted, not a statistic, but I think it's very indicative of the way a lot of war supporters think. 9/11 = Terror, Saddam = Terror, therefore Saddam (and subsequently Iraq) is responsible for 9/11. Easy way to justify the war.<br><br>
The last "conversation" I had with my MIL about the war went like this:<br>
MIL: "Well, we can't let them keep coming over here and blowing us up like on 9/11."<br>
Me: "That's not why we invaded Iraq."<br>
MIL: "Oh really?"<br>
Me: "Really. We invaded Afghanistan because of 9/11."<br>
MIL: "Well, it's the same thing."<br><br><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/angry.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="angry"><br><br>
It's just easier for some people to think like that, I guess.

I do not think he cares.<br><br>
Life goes on. He gets his presidential pension. He is wealthy to begin with ... so what?<br><br>
Who cares? Him? No way!<br><br>
BTW, what is a WMD? A "weapon of mass destruction"? As in atom bomb? Why the euphemism?

I don't think it's a euphemism, because a WMD can be a biological weapon, a chemical weapon, or a nuclear weapon. It's an umbrella term for anything that can wipe out a large population indiscriminately.

Google has an explanation:<br><div style="margin:20px;margin-top:5px;">
<div class="smallfont" style="margin-bottom:2px;">Quote:</div>
<table border="0" cellpadding="6" cellspacing="0" width="99%"><tr><td class="alt2" style="border:1px inset;">If you do a Google search on the word [failure] or the phrase [miserable failure], the top result is currently the White House’s official biographical page for President Bush. We've received some complaints recently from users who assume that this reflects a political bias on our part. I'd like to explain how these results come up in order to allay these concerns.<br><br>
Google's search results are generated by computer programs that rank web pages in large part by examining the number and relative popularity of the sites that link to them. By using a practice called googlebombing, however, determined pranksters can occasionally produce odd results. In this case, a number of webmasters use the phrases [failure] and [miserable failure] to describe and link to President Bush's website, thus pushing it to the top of searches for those phrases. We don't condone the practice of googlebombing, or any other action that seeks to affect the integrity of our search results, but we're also reluctant to alter our results by hand in order to prevent such items from showing up.</td>
