I use a plastic knife. I wipe it down with a sanitizing wipe after every use and just leave it on the toilet tank.
Don't forget to mark your poop scraper, and tell household visitors what it's for so it doesn't end up with the kitchen things!
: There are lots of people who swear by those mini-showers which can be attached to the toilet. I'd love to try one of those. Anyone have tips for convincing DH?

We have a mini shower *and* a two year old :LOL No problems yet.. but we also have the bathroom gated off. My 10 month old likes to 'dumpster dive'
: But I'd do whatever I could to keep them away.. that mini shower is worth every penny!! I dont know that I get by w/o mine
:LOL

I could totally see that happening in my house. We've had to install toilet locks in our bathrooms and that always throws our guests for a loop.

We have a 2 year old and a mini shower, but have never had a problem. He's much more interested in water painting with the toilet brush after it's been dipped in the toilet.

Ok, you've just touched on why I never wanted to get a mini-shower. I have 4 other kids ranging from 7-9 and I know for a fact they'd find the mini-shower much too tempting to just look at. :LOL

As for the spatula... do you rinse it afterwards? Where do you keep it? (there's no way I could keep it on the toilet tank like one of the pp's suggested because of the little kids at daycare). I was thinking some sort of bucket under the sink? I think it's a pretty good idea and I'm sure if I tell the bigger kids it's for poop, I can be reasonably sure they won't touch it...

I've got a 2 year old and have used a mini-shower since he was a baby. It works great! He never touches it. It is sort of out of site because it is on the side of the toilet--he never really sees it. Plus--you can shut it off if you need to...so it is much harder for a child to figure out how to use it if you do that.

We use the spatula setup. DH picked up an old one for a nickel at a yard sale, and it behind the toilet in a teeny tiny garbage can. Out of sight, out of temptation's way. This baby is still too young for us to need the spatula, but we'll do the same once he is. I guess we also just rinsed it with a cloth wipe when done using it, and tossed that wipe in with the diapers.

When I need to spatula poop out of a dipe I prefer to use cardboard that is already destined for the trash. Works great, no worries that my pooper-scooper will be mistaken for cutlery and taken back to the kitchen (that is just all sorts of nasty...EW!).

I think I'd die without my minishower
: I *do* have a cheapo spatula tucked away at my dad's with the toilet brush, but I hate doing it that way and always leave his dirty diapers for the minishower when I come home. Spatulas work though, nothing worng with them!!
I actually found this contraption at the hardware store; it's basically a hose with a showerhead at the end, and you just slip it onto your bathroom faucet, turn on the water and spray the poopies off into the toilet. And the best thing? Only $4.99! I'm sooooo going to take that with me on my next trip to bio mom's since DS isn't EBF this time around

Oooh, that sounds easier and more portable than my minishower - do you remember exactly what it was called? We're going on a trip soon and that would be nice....

I honestly couldn't tell you... sorry! It wasn't in any fancy packaging, just a plastic bag with a woman on the front about to wash her hair :LOL I think it had "shampoo" in the title? LOL It's supposed to be for rinsing your hair out in the sink but us CD'ing mamas see everything differently
