Although I believe in taking personal responsibility for actions rather than blaming things like technology, the internet makes it so much easier for people to access any kind of porn without embarrassment or the need to plan ahead and possibly rethink impulses. I don't think all porn is evil or at the top of my list of bad things in the world (assuming it doesn't involve children or rape), but it does sometimes hurt or even destroy relationships, especially when the other person is uncomfortable with it, and affects the way men view their wife and all women and the way everyone views making love. I know I'm old fashioned and I'm not about to make porn illegal, but I think it's sad that so many people find porn so appealing rather than cherishing real relationships.

I just can not believe that 20% of Christian women are addicted to porn. I don't even believe 20% of women regularly look at porn. Am I that sheltered? I seriously can't even imagine it. But I think porn it abhorrent so what do I know. But really now, 20% of women addicted to it?? No way. Men, I couldn't tell you (50% seems crazy high though) but women? 20% No way. Do you believe it?

Your post made me giggle! Addicted is a pretty strong word, and probably not that accurate, but I know plenty of women that have watched porn, don't think on a regular basis though.

Okay well yeah, alot of people are apparently addicted to porn. Christians included. The poll surveyed 1000 people. Not many. I don't think it proves much.

When I first saw this post, I thought someone had come out with "Christian" porn! EEK! Can you imagine it? I mean, there's already the "Christian" way to beat your kids, wars that are justified in God's name (neither of which I agree with) but I seriously thought some whack job had come out with porn that was considered "Christian" for whatever reason!

I think that there are a lot of Christians that view porn, and many that are addicted. I believe it dangerous because it can quickly become an addiction, the same as any other addiction, alcohol,smoking, ect. It starts off "well, just a little" and soon it can take hold and be all you think about. I have a very close friend who is in the process of divorce, her dh became addicted and it became a huge factor in the ruin of their marriage-they are Christians.

What about gay porn? There're no women in it? What about porn made for women by women? What about Lesbian porn? I agree there is the steriotypical, male pleasure focussed het porn that totally does degrade women. But, there is a world of types of porn that have nothing to do with degredation and everything to do about good, sexy fun. So, porn as a term needs to be put into context when making the statement of degredation.

That clarified, back onto topic. Christian porn? Yup it exists. There's something for everyone on the internet. 20% of women "addicted" (whatever that means) to porn? Probably more. Especially those who watch women's porn.

Technology has made it much easier for frustrated or repressed people to watch pornography, sure. But is that actually a bad thing? Maybe it will allow christianity as a religion to evolve. Who knows?

So is watching porn while "getting off" the same thing as fantazing? Seriously - do people when spend their time trying to put numbers to this? I do think that some of the porn is wayyyyyyy overboard but the other stuff.......how else are you suppose to stay married to the same person for umpteen years? Now if its a one sided deal then that can lead to some issues - but more than likely the personalities were too different to begin with and porn would have been only one issue.

And those numbers seem too high to me - but what do they consider addiction?
