Just got this from one of my birth lists.
<<I’m a lawyer with the Northwest Women’s Law Center in Seattle. I’m investigating possible legal responses to bans on vaginal birth after cesarean at hospitals in the northwest states – Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Washington and Oregon. If you are currently pregnant and want to have a VBAC, but are facing a hospital policy that would require you to have a c-section regardless of whether you want it and it is medically necessary, and are willing to consider working with a lawyer on this, we’d like to talk with you. Please respond to [email protected] ican-online. org>>

Thanks! I'm currently in ND/MN and the 2 hospitals here are planning to be vbac free by the end of the yr. Hopefully a class action lawsuit somewhere else will make them change their minds.

Just FYI, if you decide to fight the new bans in your community then a good starting point is my article "50 Ways to Protest a VBAC Denial" found at midwiferytoday.com

I've also created a national yahoo list to join together the various VBAC battles being waged across the country. I've reversed two bans in Maryland and there have been around 5 other reversals nationwide so change is possible. Women in TX and NC recently reversed bans on VBAC after multple cesareans as well.

I appreciate the info. We're hoping to get an ICAN group started here soon, and that will definitely be on our agenda.
