My tailbone has been killing me for the past two months......I haven't done anything in that time to hurt it, but I wonder if its possible for it to be a birth injury i just didnt notice until now?

ds was born sunny side up and I had back labor. I was also induced and Had an epi, and didnt feel a thing, not even pressure when I gave birth. The birth took all of 5-10mins, and most of that time was waiting for the OB to get ready.

I wonder if pressure from the back of Roman's head caused it to flex into a spot that now is causing pain- is it a "crunch" feeling? Or is it more like muscle pain?

I had a tailbone injury from blunt trauma when I was a younger teen- it caused "iliosacral fusion." My tailbone and the side of my pelvis rammed together hard enough to cause the tailbone and pelvis to occasionally "stick" in a position that really hurts. If that makes sense! I have to do these physical therapy exercises when I feel my tailbone "slide out of whack" (very technical terms here!
) Essentially, I need to either brace my body on the floor and push one foot at a time on the wall, or lie on a bed and have DH apply an inward force to my foot/leg while I try to "kick" him away. It seems to work every time.

Does standing or sitting in any position seem to help?

laying down helps it, sitting and standing sometimes is really painful.

I'm wondering about his head to, he dropped pretty fast and as i said, it was mostly back labor and he was sunny side up. its more of a muscle and bone pain rather than a crunch.

Maybe a massage therapist? Or visit your MD and see if they can determine if anything is physically out of place, and then consult a massage therapist?

I think I know a few MT's in your area, if you want I can poke around!

so my kids are all grown but when they were little I would periodically have some tail bone pain even now sometimes- and actually I have a pretty short tail bone so it is easy for me to end up sitting on it- as I have a pretty broad but flat bottom- what I have found to work- sitting on a cushion in the car and other places but I put the open u where my tail bone is and the most helpful thing is to do butt bumps- an exercise that belly dancers do that isolate just your bottom muscles- not the thighs and flex them when you are sitting- built my bottom right up and the muscles hold my tail bone off the seat-- also the flexing breaks up any adhesions ---
I also use at times some saint john'swort oil as something to soothe the nerves--

take care

Sorry to hear about your PIA, Roman's mum. I'm a massage therapist who has worked with a chiropractor for a number of years. I sympathize as I once knocked my tailbone by slipping on the stairs and bumping down on me arse. A chiro would say that it doesn't really matter why your tailbone is out and it's usually not possible to know with any certainty. If you're not able to resolve with the suggestions above, a chiro can put it back in place for you. It's an unpleasant experience as it must be done via the rectum, but for most folks it only needs doing once. One way to get it done more cheaply would be to go to a chiro college. Though for that adjustment, you might want an experienced hand

Good luck!
