Okay we (dh and I) love to co sleep with our two month old son. He loves it too we all sleep better. Here's the problem. Even though I feed him at nights and sometimes stay up with ds till he burps (I always make sure he does) he still wakes up around seven in the morning crying. Always! Today it was gas, but I always burp him after his feedings, also I know when it's gas as both of his little legs will go up. Most of the time though when he wakes up crying (he does this when he cries) only one leg will move up and down like he's fussy or something. My worry is that I don't know if he is having night terror's or what's going on. Like I said today I knew it was gas but most of the time it's not and I don't know what it is. We don't use our ped anymore, and even if we did I wouldn't want to take him in. Have any of you experienced this before? I personally think he's too young to have night terrors but I could be wrong. (On the side note: I found a great chiropractor really close to my house that deals with preg. women and kids, and shares dh and my values
). Anyway your opinions and advices are much appreciated! Thanks

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but my first thoughts were:
1. He's hungry
2. He's wet.

Sometimes my 12 week old son is rustling around next to me and wiggling his legs and arms, sort of tossing his head...if I try to latch him and he isn't interested in eating right away, I just change his diaper and that fixes him up. He still eats a couple of times at night (usually at around 1 and around 4) but then when dawn starts breaking, he starts cluster feeding around 6:45 and goes until about 9am.
He has made me think he is dreaming at times by startling awake with a little sound, but I don't know anything about night terrors...I think they usually happen in older kids (which I don't have!).

I would just start by thinking about the simplest reasons that babies cry...hungry, cold, wet, uncomfortable.
Good luck!

Haurelia, It doesn't sound stupid at all. Here's the thing though. I feed him formula now (long story but I did bf him in the beginning), anyway he usually wakes up around 12:30am at night and 4:30am to feed. I thought that babies that were formula fed didn't wake up as much as bf babies, also because formula is stronger than bm so I don't know if he's hungry at seven in the morning. I could try giving him formula since seven would be like three hours difference from four thirty. We don't change him at night unless he poops and I normally change him in the morning around that time. By the time I'm changing him he is screaming and it brakes my heart so I calm him down and proceed to change him. When I'm done changing him he is usually calm, but I can't go on everyday like this. I'm going to try the formula tomorrow at 7, and tonight I'm going to change him with his feedings to see if it would be the diaper. Thanks for the suggestions

My DD does have night terrors, and we suspected it fairly early as well (though more like 6-9 mths is generally the "earliest" people tend to show signs).

We had the same experience though - every morning... crying... but much earlier (like 3 weeks old). So in the end, we actually took her to the potty first thing when she woke up and held her in a squat over it and she would fart up a storm and poop and pee, and then go calmly back to sleep. I know it's probably an isolated incident that it happened to work for us, but definitely try. She needed to be in that position, as she wouldn't go otherwise adn would be gassy and crying and uncomfortable for hours if we didn't do it. Perhaps the formula gives him a little more gas than the BM did?

Good luck!

Vortex, thanks for the great idea
! We'll definitely try that tomorrow morning. Yeah the formula definitely does make him more gassy. I would love to purchase bm for my baby (guess I'll be checking the bf threads). Anyway we have him on probiotics everyday. I mix 1/4th in his formula, and I think that's helped.

Demottm, that's a possibility since our bed faces the window. I'll be readjusting the blinds tonight. Thanks
