I am just wondering how long PP bleeding usualy lasts. I am 6 days short of one month pp and still have days when I bleed. I seem to go for days with no bleeding and just when I decide to stop wearing a pad, I get this gush of blood.<br><br>
Can anyone rrecommend some natural / herbal remedies to finish this? Would having some placenta help? It is still in the freezer.

I'm 5 weeks postpartum, and I'm still bleeding. Sometimes it's bright red, too.<br>

Are you doing more physically on the days you bleed? Sometimes overactivity can restart or make bleeding heavier.<br><br>
I have been taking placenta and am still bleeding 3.5 weeks pp (very light though and some days none, like you), although I bled for 6 after dd so I guess i'm just a bleeder.

I'll be 4w pp on thursday and my bleeding pattern is much like yours... nothing for a few days, then some blood - red or pink usually... so you sound like you're right in line too. Shouldnt last more then 2-3 more weeks for you.

idk about "normal" or "usual", but i bled for ten weeks with my first, and eight with my second. i'm 2.5 pp and haven't had any bleeding today though...and i haven't done anything different as compared to my other two.

I think 3 weeks is a very normal time to bleed. Most women stop by 6 weeks.<br><br>
Increasing your rest and decreasing physical activity can help it stop sooner.<br><br>
Angelica tincture is good. This time I'm using crampbark tincture and drinking postpartum tea from Earth Mama Angel Baby.<br><br>
FTR, I bled 9 and 7 weeks last time. I was still going strong at 7 weeks so my midwife suggested I stay in bed a few days and do the angelica. It stopped shortly after.

With my first, I had a D&C (retained placenta) and bled for 6 weeks. My mw warned me that I would probably bleed longer this time, and yet, I only bled for 3 weeks.<br><br>
I don't know what's normal except that from what i understand, when bleeding restarts it can be a sign that you're overdoing it??

5 weeks here, and no bleeding--no more liners anymore. I think I bled a lot longer with my first.

Not in your DDC (but turns out I should have been, lol! Just had a July 29th baby!) but with my first, I remember I was still bleeding at my 6 week follow up. Think it stopped right around then. It was also a LOT of fluid and blood seemed like to me, even when I stayed in bed nursing for weeks! not so much this time, thank goodness. I guess it's hard to say. Hope it lets up for you soon.

Here's how long my bleeding lasted (until it was just a slight brown smudge over the course of a day requiring a pantiliner):<br>
#1 - 4 or so weeks<br>
#2 - almost 6 weeks<br>
#3 - 3 days<br>
#4 - 3 days

I keep wondering if it was the raspbery leaf tea I drank, or the pitocin (had a small dose in labour) or just luck of the draw?!?

Part Luck of The Draw, Part activity leval and things like that. I think this is the longest I've bled also, but I know that I've been more active then I should have been - but other then the bleeding, I feel great, so I can't complain.

I started spotting at week 2, then done bleeding at week 4. OK, so DS is 6 weeks old today...and I start in with bright red bleeding <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/irked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="irked">: Certainly haven't been exerting myself! In fact we took a rather challenging hike at week 4 with no bleeding starting. I'm glad to be seeing my MW tomorrow, maybe she'll have some insight.<br><br>
I'm sure it's just that there's a wide range of normal....I would like to be a little bit more in the middle, though!

What about those who had c-sections? How long does bleeding normally lasts? I'm only a week and two days but it's very very light and every now and then I'll have a clot.

I am 7 weeks today and still have bleed pattern like you describe. I know I am doing too much at times but I have to keep the family going. I am hoping that it will end soon.

I am happy to report that I have finally been free of spotting and for the last two days gone without mama-cloth YIPPEE, hope it stays that way.<br><br>
I definitely feel that a lot of the bleeding was related to me being too active, but then with 3 kids who isnt <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink">
