I got one right when I got preggo. I needed it for a job (needed to wear a costume lol! long story) and I couldn't look preggo but I was already showing a bit hehe!!! I just hope to be comfortable enough to wear it.. Mine looks like this http://tiendamundolatino.com/images/31006.jpg but instead of shorts type, it's a thong.

eta it looks more like this one w/o the bra of course http://tiendamundolatino.com/product...roducts_id=164

I've not used one before but I got one this time. I got a 12" medical grade abdominal supporter. It was under $20 with shipping. I think it was called an EZ Wrap, you could try to google it

My mom is making me a couple. From firm and stretchy frabric. I wore one last preggy (after baby was born) and it really really helped my tummy go flat and not be soft.

I don't really get how binding/constricting the muscles can get you a better shape. What am I missing? Can someone point me in the direction of an article or something?

Is this suppose to be worn 24/7? I didn't wear anything like this with my first, but sometimes had the urge to bind my belly with a tensor bandage so I am really interested.

I like zoebirds, I think that's the one I will order. No wires or hooks.

I have one of those blue exercise velcro thingys that I plan to wear. My mom is really big on binding after birth. I think you're supposed to wear it for 24 hours but I think i'll just wear my mine during the day and remove it in the evenings.

essentially, binding helps hold the skin and organs in place while the muscles move back toward their original, unstretched shape.

it is the actual use of the muscle of the belly that brings that back into alignment; these garments simply help facilitate the process.

one need only wear it 4-6 weeks, and it needn't be worn 24-7, though most people do wear their garments after abdominal surgery 24-7 (which is where the modern theory behind belly binding comes from. it's a very old tradition, but in the modern era, it is used because it has been foudn that it helps decrease swelling/water retension as well as supports the skin and organs while the muscle returns to it's normal shape).

I was looking at that one too but wondered if anyone had success with a cheaper alternative. My good friend just did support undies and said they made a big difference after the birth of her daughter and it was A LOT cheaper.
