Have you other WAHM's (especially those with business signature lines) been noticing that your posts are coming up on Google when you do a search for your business name?

I was doing a search to see how my rankings were coming along and quite a few of my posts on MDC come up. On one hand, this can be a good thing as MDC has high ranking and can get your business name up pretty high on Google, on the other hand, it shows what you posted about and you don't always want to share that with everybody on Google.

I guess you have to remember that these are public forums...now I'm wishing I didn't post here about advertising...I don't want my competitors to see that!

Edited to tell you how to search in case your interested - type in your business name and motheringdotcommune and see what comes up. There may only be a couple, but if you click on "search omitted duplicate items" it will show you all of them including the topic of the post. I had like 10 pages on Google of my posts here.

Yup! I haven't looked for mine, but I have posts that I made in forums from about 1991 that come up on Google.

Since I discovered that some many years ago, my motto is that I don't post anything anywhere that I wouldn't mind someone else reading.

Be careful what you post, it could come back to haunt you!

Yup, I've noticed that. I guess I just always speak my heart and if someone doesn't want to buy from me because if it, well so be it. I actually followed a link in my stats to a forum that was speaking negatively about my product. It sucked, but I ended up posting to them and they were pretty shocked and apologetic over it. But it helped me learn how to improve my site and product.

Yeah I noticed that yesterday, too. I was checking to see if my store had been atleast indexed yet in google and the first thing that came up was one of my posts from MDC.

Wow, yet another reason why I'm glad I don't do any signature advertising nor use my avatar logo! I post a lot in the single parenting forum about my issues with my ex, and I don't want that to taint my business reputation!

Thanks for the heads-up.
