We've been at this since last weekend, and all in all, I'm very impressed with DS's progress. He does wonderfully well when we are home and he is wearing nothing but a shirt. Whenever he needs to, he will run right off to the potty and do his thing, and even empty it in the big potty. However, when we go out, even though we take our potty with us, he is not the least bit interested in using it. Today he peed throught the pants he was wearing and the spare set in the course of an hour. I had hoped to have several days in a row where we wouldn't have to go anywhere to get this really established, but that isn't happening. Does this just take time or is there something I should be doing differently? I don't like feeling house-bound!

You did not mention how old your son is, though I don't know that it matters. We've been doing EC since birth and we have good and bad days. Sometimes we do better away than at home. I'd say just go about your life. Your son will learn what he needs to do, it just takes time.

He'll be 3 in July. Anyway, thanks for the advice. That's what I had kind of figured, so we'll press forward and hope things fall into place.

Same here! Dd is 26 months and goes in her potty when she is in the house naked or in a shirt or dress. If I put pants on her, there is a 50/50 chance she'll wet them. If we put pants on and go out, the odds go to 80% that she'll wet. I just go to the potty when I get somewhere and again before we leave and then pack 2 sets of training pants in my bag and keep 2 more spares in the car for emergencies <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"><br><br>
Soemtimes, if we are going somwhere that she really can't wet, I use one of her old lightweight diaper covers, like a bummi wrap over the training pants and let her know that we can take it off to pee in the potty.
