Hi Ladies!
I don't post much on mothering but I read here frequently and benefit a lot.
My question today is about potty training.
Here's the story..
My son is 25 months old now. I never pushed potty training or anything, figuring we'll do it whenever he shows me he's ready. At around 23 months my husband bought a potty and we had it sitting around in the house. My ds learned the word for it and he knew to say what it is for (pee or poop) but he never showed any interest to sit on it. Fine with me.
About 2 weeks ago ds suddenly started refusing diapers, he didn't want me to put them on him, he would be screaming and crying etc. I didn't feel like I should force him to wear diapers so I just let him be naked in the house. After about 2-3 days I realized that he was naked almost all the time but whenever he needed to poop or pee, he would come and ask me to put the diaper on him. Also, he refused to wear a diaper at night-time. At first, I was worried that he's going to be pee all over the bed but remarkably he is dry all night and then he pees when he gets up in the morning, of course when I put the diaper on him first.
So he is well able to control himself, he asks for the diaper whenever he is about to go but he refuses to use the potty or the toilet. What do I do now?
I mean, I am happy with the situation the way it is now, I just feel that maybe I should use the opportunity of him being this ready. He thinks that the diaper is for peeing/pooping and I don't blame him for that....he's been in diapers for over 2 years. I guess it's hard to learn for him to switch to the potty now.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Wow that sounds great! Will he sit on the potty at all, like with a diaper on? My ds is just starting to potty learn and I get him to sit down by giving him a bowl of popcorn. He likes to eat popcorn and rarely gets it so the popcorn will keep him sitting long enough to do his business. The popcorn is the reward and he is rewarded for just sitting on the potty, not for doing business on it. He gets lots of prainse when he does do something on there but he also get praised just for sitting.
