We started EC about 10 days ago and it's going really well - during the day I'm catching more than half her poops and maybe 3-4 pees (the pees seem so much harder to catch!).

I'm pottying her in the sink right now and I'm frequently getting hit with pee. Do I need to lean her forward more? What's the trick to staying dry? I know I'm missing something simple...

Thanks mamas!

A different-shaped vulva and urethra? Seriously, though, leaning forward more may help.

Congratulations on your baby girl! And on the great EC start! How are you getting hit with pee? Is it running down her bottom and on to you? That happens to me sometimes. I think leaning her more forward is the trick! It still happens here on occasion, and she's over a year old!

We started EC at 6 days with our dd. I sit on the edge of the bathtub right next to the toilet and hold her with one arm helping her sit up almost all the way, supported against my leg, and the other hand holding her feet and her legs apart. If she's laying down too far, her pee will come out upwards, but as of yet, it doesn't have enough power to get me too badly. However, my toilet is in need of some deep cleaning around the top of the bowl where her poop sprayed when she wasn't sitting up far enough.

I am looking for some better ideas of positions, though, since I know this one won't work forever.

You can also sit on the toilet with her between your legs (in arms pose -her bum in the toilet). We fairly regularly hit the sink with DD's pee (boys are so much easier to aim!) but eventually got the hang of it.
