But really what I will do is drink lots of water today, enjoy my pretty new space with my new rug and chest of drawers (for all my fabric) from Ikea. They make my living room so much nicer. I might even sew some things while I watch old episodes of Buffy.

I have to say, it's really fun to look at pictures of cute boys (who are firemen or in the coast guard ) who write about how much they love life, when for so long all I heard about was how much life sucks. One of them actually wrote under his favorite things: "My Family, my Puppy, and my Country." It just really makes me feel like I will be ok, since I know there are in fact single men in my area who are are happy.

hmm, I've got a bit of a buzz here.

Ohhhh... Coffee, cute boys and old episodes of Buffy! Does it really get any better than that?!

: Hi everybody!

I completely missed last week's thread because we took a mini-vacation Sun-Wed. On the way home on Wed, I manifested a rollover car accident at 65 mph on the Interstate. I was driving in the left lane and a semi in the right lane started moving into my lane. I had no choice but to move onto the shoulder. I lost control and we rolled down into the ditch. We are all so lucky to be alive!

DS has 3 stitches in his knee and a couple bumps on his head, but is doing great. He even went to school Friday.

I was driving and my thumbs are pretty messed up from gripping the steering wheel so tightly, but they're finally starting to feel better. Other than that I'm pretty sore but doing great, considering what we've been through.

DH has a compressed vertebrae, but he's mobile - just in a lot of pain. They kept him overnight in the hospital for observation, but released him the next day. (DS and I stayed in a hotel, since we were still an hour or more from home.) DH sees a spine specialist 5/2 to see if he needs surgery. He'll be off work at least 4 weeks.

Through it all, I was able to see how lucky we were, and so many 'pluses' - and I know without a doubt that my attitude was from reading and participating in these threads the past few months. There was one time I broke down (in the morning in the hotel room, thinking about everything I had to do from away from home - include getting us home). I let myself cry a bit, then knew I had to get it together to take care of things. I tried to think of an appropriate Switchword, and Be came to me, even though I wasn't sure what it was for. I immediately stopped crying, blew my nose, and got on the phone with the insurance company and others I had to call. It was amazing! I also tried Cancel several times during the night as I relived the rollover over and over. It was somewhat effective temporarily, but those were especially hard thoughts to cancel!

Thanks so much to all of you for these threads, and for "being there" with me through the most frightening time in my life. I know that if it weren't for all of you and these threads that this stuff wouldn't be so ingrained in me, even if I had been reading about it on my own.

I'm sure I won't be able to keep up with the thread this week - or maybe for quite a few weeks - but I'll be peeking in here and there when I can.

to all of you!

Here's pics of the car (and us in the hospital - I had my camera since we were coming back from vacation!) if you're interested.
photos of car

I have a question 'bout thing like Buffy...I used to enjoy Buffy very much, but I started feeling weird about watching all that violence - however 'pretend' it was - like it was programming me to expect violence or something? That, and there was an episode or two where children were being harmed or in the way of danger, and I just couldn't watch it anymore. Is this totally weird? What do other folks think? On a larger scale, are we perpetuating violence by watching this sort of thing? I mean, I don't like to think ill of Buffy , but that and the constant angst were really starting to make me wonder....

Avena - do you have any recommendations for larger ladies interested in yoga? Somehow our morning got _seriously_ derailed...DP cranky as all get out, DS whining and being....unpleasant and DD crying... Instead of spiraling on down with them, I was able to pick up this awesome story book called "Big Momma Makes The World" and read it to them (even DP was listening in ) and it _completely_ turned the morning around! The episode with the kids being harmed - it turned out that the kids were evil and not really kids, just looking like kids to get the town to turn against witches.
I don't think it programs me to expect violence (or demons or friends who can do spells), I like the witty banter and the friendships and the story lines (and when Buffy and Faith fight it's kind of sexy) and when Buffy and Spike fight and then end up making out and doing more and you can actually hear the zipper going down - I'm not sure how that even made it onto TV since even Joss Whedon said in an interview "yeah, that was pretty much porn."

Anywho, I'm way off topic now, but I just love Buffy.

I second that YUM! Firemen are my all time weakness and I've recently added in the Coast Guard. We were watching Deadliest Catch and the Guard had to come in for some rescues and I just 'bout melted into my chair!

I'm not a Buffy fan, but I'd sure enough come over to drink coffee and look at yummy men with ya!

It was a couple of episodes - one where a child was being abused by a baseball coach, one where this weird monster was smothering them in a hospital, that sort of thing I am truly not trying to bash Buffy, and I'd take Spike any day in a heartbeat (in fact, I've asked DP to wrap him up for me for Christmas ) And stuff like her having to kill her boyfriend....ack.
