There are no cpfs that are organic - they are all non-organic (as in, they are not raised without pesticides, etc. . . ) and there are no hemp cpfs.
Chinese Prefolds (cpfs) are made in china out of mass-grown cotton and processed/woven, etc. . . in a manuf. facility there.
As far as prefolds, in general.
I know that cpfs are absorbent, but I have not tried any organic prefolds (want to) and I'm certain that hemp would be more absorbent than both types of cotton by its nature alone. Though hemp prefolds usually have a blend of cotton in them to soften them up.
No problem . . . I think that the whole prefold madness can be quite maddening, actually - with all the different makers. I have seen a few mommas lately advertising on their site that they sell Baby Textile Chinese Prefolds or ATD Chinese Prefolds. I really think many of us just sort of use the words 'chinese prefolds' to mean a type of prefold that we regularly see, KWIM? Either way . . . back to the topic at hand.
I'm interested in the prefold question as well - and people's experiences with absorption.
I have owned many different types of prefolds, organic and not, hemp etc.
My fave by far are the "Under the Nile" Organic knit prefolds. They are sooooo soft and suprisingly, incredibly absorbant, they are way more absorbant than they look. I have never had prefolds so soft. I love that they are knit through and through. So they are so comfy and dont take forever to dry. My other prefolds have mostly become used for cleanups. I have even cut way down on using my fitteds b/c I love these so much! I have even been using them in a wool wrap overnight!
