Prefolds vs. fitteds Round XXXI: Growing Greens

I am happy to be having another baby if only so that I can totally start from scratch and have the perfect diaper stash this time instead of trying one of everything.

I have an obsession where I want exactly 3 dozen identical diapers and 6-12 identical covers (less picky on the covers) and no more or fewer than that, except if/when baby starts daycare I don't mind having a separate small stash of AIO's just for that.

However, I also love prefolds and fitteds both almost equally. Dh says he likes the prefolds-and-snap-wraps-used-as-AI2's system best (other than actual AIO's which I'm not willing to consider for anything but daycare). I like that system, but I think I like fitteds more--they are fiendishly more expensive but they are just enough easier and work just enough better that over the course of 3000 diaper changes I think it would make a difference. Plus my mom is going to be changing a lot of diapers this time around and she has arthritis and isn't very good at pinning despite having patience, pioneering spirit, and old-school experience. (Mom and I both like baby to go coverless around the house during the day.)

My favorite fitteds up until recently were organic cotton MEOS, but dh never liked MEOS because he thought the fabric was too towelly. And, frankly, I didn't like being more or less locked into using ME covers. They're fine covers, but not my absolute favorites.

So, today I got a Growing Greens in the mail--softer and slightly cheaper than MEOS and will fit under a Bummis--and dh says he likes it a lot and if I want we can buy a stash of them after baby outgrows the KL0s!
: I'll probably end up breaking my 3-dozen-only rule and get some prefolds as well, but this still makes me happy!

I know exactly what you mean about 'breaking the rule'
. My stash is big enough for both babies (#2 is expected anytime now), but I got my hands on a new Babykicks organic fitted, and it is now my favorite. I can't wait for them to officially come out, because I have to get a few more. One of the best things about it is I don't need a cover, and the outside is still dry. Not even slightly damp... Its great! So, I foresee trading some of my OrMEOS in... there is such an addictive dark side to CD'ing
