http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...m/prefolds.jpg

I was at Value Village this morning looking for covers and PUL coats. There were no diapers OR covers to be had. Just these prefolds, 11 in total. It wasn't a bargain ($1.49 each) but I took them all. Not sure why! I have no idea what the fabric is. They look to be brand new and feel nice and thick in the centre. The outer thirds are 2 layers and I don't know what the middle third is. It's like a soaker sewn between the outer two layers. I'm thinking I'll make fitteds out of them (if they're big enough - 14x20) by putting a cute print on the outside and just serging it together. If not, then I'll give them to my mom to put in her next box to Africa - her and another girl who has a sister in missions over there do up boxes of clothes, diapers, food, crutches, supplies, etc.

Can anyone tell from the picture what the fabric might be? There are no indicators anywhere as to what brand/content these are. Kinda looks like a loose twill but I wouldn't call it gauze at all.

Actually - they MAY have been a good deal. 11 x $1.49 is about $16.39 or something. Don't a dozen sell for $20 or $22 or thereabouts on ebay? Either way, I don't care if I am out the money. They should be good for something.

Didn't find any PUL either but did pick up two wool sweaters. One is striped and would make cute longies but I don't think I'd wear them on him. I'll probably felt them a bit and just make covers.

C'mon! I see you peeking! No one?? I know nothing about prefolds.

It looks like a kind of birds eye weave. Have you washed them up to see if they quilt up at all? Take a pick of the whole thing and show us. I'm interested. You know when I was at Target of all places, last year they had real prefolds in their automotive section. It was like 5 for $5 and I should have gotten them to see how they quilted up. I think it was 6 layers in the middle but not sure.

How were the diapers labelled that you bought?

I haven't washed them yet, Danielle. I took the picture as soon as I got home. Could I just throw them in a regular load with a few towels etc and wash like normal? I won't be using them for a few weeks and I can wash them again without much detergent and no softener.

There was no labeling or anything on the diapers themselves or on the tag. Just the price.
