I am wondering if there is anyone out there who has succesfully conceived after their DH had a vasectomy, either with a reversal or better yet by a miracle! I so want a third child and DH is not 100% on board, but willing to consider a vasectomy reversal to make me happy. I know it is meant to be. I would love to hear from anyone who may have been in this situation or currently in it. I am afraid of resent for him if we don't try and resent against me if we do and succeed. HELP!!!:

I dont think anyone should give someone a child to make the other person happy---bad idea IMO. Vasectomy is meant to be perm, but you may have looked this up already, but in case you didnt http://www.vasectomymedical.com/vase...ess-rates.html give reversal rate information. Thank you and I understand that and hence the reason I cancelled our appt in Nov to have it reversed. I needed more time to think about it. I love my husband very much. We have been married for 13.5yrs and friends for 22. It is a very hard situation and I am feeling a lot of anger and betrayl towards him.

My DH had it done 5 mos after our second child was born as she was a very difficult child and I had some mild PPD. I was very clear that I did not support the decision and that I did not feel we were done having kids, even as hard as life was right then with a 2.5y.o. and a new born who literally cried 16-18hrs/24hrs. (We later found out she had severe allergies which attributed a lot to her miserable early months).

His biggest concern now is financial. I have been a SAHM for the last 3 years and have currently just taken on a part time job to try and put some money away. I am a firm believer in the universe will provide what it needs to. I trust that and believe in my heart this child belongs with us.

Thank you for reading and please feel free to comment.

Just wanted to say I've heard success stories of getting pregnant after the vesectomy reversal. May be try looking into search here with "vesectomy reversal" and you may find some old threads on it.

Our last son is a reversal baby.
If you have a reversal done go to a specialist. My husband had his first reversal before leaving the military and it was not successful. We did it again 5 years later with a specialist. And two years after that I was pregnant.
Statistically the longer after the vasectomy the less chance of success and that is because the body buikds up antibodies against it's own sperm.

I am in the same boat with you. My husband had a vasectomy the last week of Nov. 06 so we are about 3 mos. post operation. He just realized tonight that he would be on board with another baby. I begged him not to get the operation but it's what he wanted and we already have 3 healthy children. I am curious to know how long past a vasc. can you still get pregnant (especially if we have only DTD 4 times in the past 3 mos.). I don't know much about a reversal, I just hope it doesn't come to that.

When I was in high school, my best friend's parents had a successful vasectomy-reversal pregnancy.

So, it's definitely possible. But, if you have kids in high school? Really, don't tell them anything about your sex life, and etc, because they will share it with all their friends.

Hello-
Thanks for the posts. It is such a huge decision and such a costly one to reverse with no guarantees. Everything I have read says they can still have sperm for a certain number of ejacs. before it is cleared out. Has he had his 3 month sperm count? I hope for you guys it did not work so that you do not have to go through what we are going through right now.
Thanks again and have positive thoughts for us. I am trying to!

Hey there,
I had my third after the vasectomy. Our Dr. told us it would take about 10 times of DTD before DH was cleaned out. We used protection like 15 times and a month and a half after the surgery, I found out I was preg! It totally changed my whole mind about the surgery. I loved having three and wanted more. DH had is vas. reversed a year ago (8yrs after the origional vas). It was a success and he has a great sperm count. I just haven't gotten preg yet. I was told average preg time is 12months after the surgery so hopefully it will happen soon.
We had an excellent surgeon who only cost $1500. I have never heard anyone have a bad experience with him. If you are interested in his name PM me.
It is a hard decision and one I spent 8 yrs deciding on. Good luck with what ever you do.

My husband has not had his sperm counted at all 3 mos. past operation. The doc said he couldn't have it tested until at LEAST 5 ejacs. and would like more around 15-20. Well we just reached 5 yesterday I have been trying info on if sperm just dissolves if not used within a certain amount of time. I am afraid of him getting his sperm count checked be because he would be wasting that sperm in a cup instead of making a baby So does anyone have an idea if it's still possible for me to get pg? BTW I ovulated yesterday and we have DTD twice since then :

Girrafe-I hope you can find some answers and I would definitely go with the reversal if I had the money/or saved enough. You don't want to be 80 yrs old and regret not doing it because you figured it wouldn't work, it never hurts to try everything HTH
