Congratulation to all of you!

I'm worried that I may be pregnant, having conceived April 4th if I did. I bought a test after work, planning to take it tomorrow a.m., but the box said it could be taken any time of day. I took it this evening and it was negative. I'm very relieved, but still worried that I should have waited until morning.

With my Dd, I took the test about 2 weeks later than now, in the a.m., and it was positive and thus I felt confident (and happy). I just don't know if I should spend the money on wine tonight or, to be safe, save it for another test. Just kidding, but you know what I mean. I want to be sure but not to waste money if possible.

While false positives are extremely rare, false negatives are quite common. If you think you could be pregnant, I would wait a few days and then test again. I would suggest testing in the morning when you first wake up. While you can test any time of day, your urine is much more concentrated first thing in the morning, so you will get a more accurate result. If you get a negative result then, then enjoy your wine! However, I think its always better to be safe than sorry! Good luck!

If you conceived April 4th, it's possible but not likely that you're pregnant now. If you ovulated on the 4th, you'd be 16 days post ovulation today and get a definite yes or no on a pregnancy test. It's a little more complicated than that though.

Sperm can live up to 5 days inside you, so it's possible you conceived as late as April 9. Most women can get a positive pregnancy test around 12 days after ovulation/conception, which would be tomorrow. To be absolutely sure, you should wait 16-18 days after ovulation to test. That would be as late as April 27th.

Also, tests say you can take them any time of day, 5 days before your missed period and all that. In reality, it's better to test with you most concentrated urine (usually first urine of the morning) and on the day you period is due. Testing too early or with diluted pee can give false negatives. :

Good luck mama, I hope the outcome is what you want it to be!

With my last little one (surprise!) I tested in the evening right after I missed a period. I got the faintest little positive line, and made an appt. with my gyn. I tested negative there. I tested a week later, and I was positive. The longer you wait, the more reliable the result will be. I always buy the double pack, because I can't wait. I do one right away, and one later, in the a.m. hours.

Myself and a friend of mine both got repeated negative results with urine tests (home and doc). I was testing early to a few days after missed period, she was testing weeks after missed period. blood test confirmed we were pregnant. It wasn't until maybe a 2-4 weeks after missed period that the urine test showed up positive.

Let's see, April 4th was 15 days ago...I tested about that time with my dd and the first one was negative, and a second one in the same day was very faintly positive. I'd definitely retest in a couple days, especially if you're having symptoms.

Thanks for all of your input. I retested this a.m. and was still negative, so I'm feeling more confident. Still no period, though.
